Look at the state of my old school! The buildings were to be demolished in the near future, but the firebugs got to them on the 19th June 2008.
It's a bit sad seeing the old place in such a sorry state, but maybe better that it went out with a bang.
I would have liked to have got closer, but the security chaps were keeping an eye on me.
I've added some notes with what I remember some of the classrooms to be.

We found these swarming on a dead branch. Some individuals only have three dots on their abdomen. I suspect those must be the nymphs of this species, as of yet I haven't found any conclusive material though.
The markings on the 'two-eyed' ones are awesome, they remind me of little African Masks.

Fire Bugs can't fly, they 'suck' fallen seeds and attack other insects (1) they can feed on their own dead as well, according to Wikipedia [NL]: the colour of the bug depends on the surrounding temperature.(2)

Miranda-... You named your dog after Gar?
Rigger- I named * one*of my dogs Gar! Volcana's upstairs. She's pregnant.
Miranda- That one's Gar... And the other's Volcana?
Rigger- Yeah... I was really rooting for them. You said you wanted to come in?

Miranda- Yeah. Great.

Miranda- *on phone* What'd you mean no?
Floyd- Sorry kid. Got another gig.
Miranda- Argh!
*She hangs up*
Rigger- Hey, hey, hey! I made you coffee.

Rigger- It's clean alright?
Miranda- Sorry. it's just, you have a reputation.
Rigger- I know. "Creep" "Rapist"- "Racist" even, explain that to me. Most of the rumours are spread by Gar actually.
Miranda- Why'd you let them treat you like that, then?
Rigger- I sometimes wonder that myself... loneliness I guess.

Never underestimate firebugs. They're dangerous little critters and will singe your eyeballs if you get too close!
Firebugs
On a Sunday walk I saw something red on a tree trunk. Thought of something like a mushroom until I took a closer look. On the trunk there were hundrets of these bugs.
