Thanks to EU support, Biox Comerţ has been working to shore up and clean the banks of the river that runs through the town of Durleşti in the Republic of Moldova.

Not only was the work implemented as part of an EU-funded project, but Biox Comerţ purchased the specialised equipment needed using an investment loan made available by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) as part of the EU4Business initiative.

In JNU we are facing an attempt to impose the RSS-BJP's retrogressive vision on our university and SFI-AISF feels proud in being in the.

forefront of the students' resistance against this. However, we believe that thisresistance can be successful only if it is combined withan alternativevision of what our university should be. As part of this struggle for aprogre.ssive and democratic alternative vision, we would like to put forward the.

following agenda for the coming year..

FINANCIAL & ACADEMIC ASSISTANCE FOR STUDENTS FROM DEPRIVED SECTIONS: .

Institutional mechanisms arerequired to ensure that the studies of students from socially, regionally and economically deprived sections is not hampered due to lack of financialsupport and they can fulfil their academic potential. Our concrete demands are:.

Post-matric scholarships should be provided to all SC/ST students..

The newly revived university-level placement cell should have provision for providing part-time and full time employment to students from these.

sections. The Project Cell should also have mandatory provisions for ensuring adequate representation to these students during recruitment for.

projects. .

The UGC's grant for remedial classes should be used to regularise them, with non-JRF holding research scholarsbeing employed on a part-time.

basis to teach these courses..

Proper audio-visual infrastructure and professional staff should be provided for English remedial classes..

The powers of the Equal Opportunity Office should be extended to oversee this entire mechanism and its scope must be extended to includeeducationally backward religious and linguistic minorities..

LIBRARY AND INTERNET FACILITIES: The Administration must speedily fulfil its commitment of instituting a regular mechanism foracquiring books in the library based on requisitions by students. Provisions should be made for accepting such requisitions in each School Office.Based on students' requisitions, the collection in the library must be speedily updated. The library infrastructure, particularly the general reading.
