Following our first live music showcase at SXSW Music Conference over in the States (the first ever "all Yorkshire" SXSW Showcase) Timeless Music Project (Chocolate Fireguard's Pat Fulgoni) organised a very busy and useful Yorkshire briefing at the Round Foundry Media Centre, Leeds offering advice to managers, labels and artists considering attending or showcasing at SXSW (Texas), MIDEM (Cannes) and more.

ABOUT TIMELESS MUSIC PROJECT
On very small resources and mostly on a voluntary basis, this musician led independent project is based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. It has attempted to draw more attention to Yorkshire's amazing music scene and fill a much needed gap in export support for Yorkshire's talented music industry.
For example we have showcased numerous breakthrough acts and labels on tastemaker compilation CDs and at live showcase events at international music conferences. And we have promoted regional music as an official partner in the British Music Industry stand.
In 2009, after 3 years of regional compilation CDs for international music conferences, we established the first ever "all Yorkshire" showcase at SXSW, USA featuring Wild Beasts, Sky Larkin, Paul Marshall amongst others. At that time other UK regions had been showcasing at SXSW and/or the British Music Embassy in Austin for many years but for some reason Yorkshire hadn't. We continued to fight for funding and support delivering further Yorkshire SXSW showcases in 2010 and 2011. We believe music deserves much more real and effective support than it is getting right now and should receive at least as much investment as other sectors.

The mission of the Sacramento Delta Foundation (SDF) is to provide financial support for the charitable work of the Sacramento Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. The Foundation is tax exempt under the regulations of IRS code (501) (c) (3). Since 2008, the year I became a member of this chapter, they have awarded over $150,000 in scholarships to help defray college expenses such as tuition, fees, books and supplies to deserving students from Sacramento area high schools.

A Japanese flickr friend of mine happens to be a resident of the Miyagi prefecture, which has been devastated by the 2011-03-11 magnitude 9.0 earthquake and tsunami. I hope he and his family survived and are in a shelter somewhere.
The major earthquakes that devastated Eastern Japan and Christchurch, New Zealand have caused horrendous casualties and emotional and physical damage. I happened to have come across a $700 windfall back in November 2010, and have now donated the entire windfall to the victims of Japan and New Zealand.

I've been sponsoring the restoration of the Flying Scotsman at York's (England) National Railway Museum these past several years.
Interestingly (and funnily), the campaign is called "Steam the Scotsman."
Back in April I received a private invite to preview to return of the fully-restored Flying Scotsman at the National Railway Museum. Alas, I can't afford to visit England again this year. Wouldn't it be fun to see something that I helped restored financially?
I hope one day I do return to York to see the steam locomotive! :D

Thanks to EU support, Biox Comerţ has been working to shore up and clean the banks of the river that runs through the town of Durleşti in the Republic of Moldova.
Not only was the work implemented as part of an EU-funded project, but Biox Comerţ purchased the specialised equipment needed using an investment loan made available by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) as part of the EU4Business initiative.

“The new machine that we bought with the loan enables us to produce tiles to individual, exclusive designs. This gives our company a competitive edge over other competitors here,” says Cristal.

So-called 'incomats' enable groundwater to emerge at the surface through drainage holes and flow into the river, preventing underground build-ups of water resources. Incomats, which are like mattresses filled with mortar, are highly resistant to erosion and decay and can be used for at least 35 years.
EU support has enabled contractor Biox Comerţ to shore up and clean the banks of the river that runs through the town of Durleşti in the Republic of Moldova.
Not only was the work implemented as part of an EU-funded project, but Biox Comerţ purchased the specialised equipment and technology needed using an investment loan made available by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) as part of the EU4Business initiative.
