No, not my first day out sailing this season, but the first "camera-friendly" day!

North Leverton Windmill this evening.

I don't normally shoot star trails this long as I usually nearly die of boredom waiting for the sequence to finish. But when you're in good company with high quality banter, the time just flies by!

This is 223 x 30 second exposures before my battery died....

Not too common these days to get a Pan Am EMD and the sun to come out lately. While on my way up to New Hampshire I got word FI-1 was in Ayer and would be heading back to Fitchburg. As they left Hill Yard I headed over to Shirley and the clouds broke just as GP40 #381 and it’s 10 cars rolled around the bend. Photo taken June14, 2019 Shirley, MA

Finally, some spring flowers, and it's almost May.

Finally, not a self portrait. That's a relief.

I guess this is a bit of a cliché, but it was mainly inspired by this.

Good morning everyone. And as the title indicates, I finally got some pics of a Red-breasted Nuthatch (Sitta Canadensis). Been a long time coming since I first spotted one a little over a month ago.

The day this was taken three appeared, but only briefly together. Plus with the colder temps they are now visiting daily. But you need to be there at the right time with camera in-hand when they do. Plus very patient as they are hyper little birds and rarely ever sit still for long.

Just two pics of the same bird on different tree limbs, of which the second one can be found in the comment section and my stream. And while it's difficult to differentiate between gender, I'm pretty sure this is a male.

Thank you for stopping by...and I hope you have a truly great day and weekend.

This summer I finally had a chance to see some puffins in real life on the island of Hornøya on the east coast of northern Norway. It had been on my bucketlist for a while already.

Honestly, I expected these cute birds to be the size of a big sturdy chicken, but to my surprise they were the size of little bantams instead. Aww :)

Eventhough they look kind of quirky in resting mode, it was impressive to see these birds in action. They are so incredibly fast, diving from the rocks and soaring across the sea. They can even swim underwater, 100% adapted to this particular environment.

I saw some razorbills, guillemots and large cormorants on this island as well. It was wonderful to see their feathers up clothes.

At first, I wasn't sure how I would feel about invading their space, but luckily it didn't seem to bother them too much. Obviously they see people all the time. A strange situation, but wow, what an experience!

I used 5 lenses to shoot the comet and the best was the 50mm f1.8... again this lens amazes me!!

Finally got back to do the Bessemer since the Tunnel Motors left at least four years ago. After a chase of the ore train to Kremis, was ready to leave when I heard a local work and about dropped my jaw when I heard 867 lead. I had to get creative with only 4 cars and this tight curve at Kiester, PA seemed to work for me. Good to see a pair of oranges again.

Finally had a chance to explore the beautiful Elysium Sim. Well worth the venture, and a lovely place for some photography.

Mons

Nouvelle gare | New station

---------------

Located near the centre of the city of Mons, the station was opened in 1841 by the Belgian State Railways and has been rebuilt three times since then.

The third building, which dated from 1952, was demolished in 2013 to be gradually replaced by a new station, designed by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava; the budget, planned at 37 million euros in 2006, reached 480 million in 2024 (at the end of the construction), i.e. 13 times the initial amount.

In August 2023, the end of the work on the new station (originally planned for early 2015) was announced for February 2024. In May 2024, the construction site "neared its end".

The new station was finally opened on 18 December 2024 and will be inaugurated on 31 January 2025.

Finally now posting pics from May, starting with 43272 at North Staffs junction. Working was the 3Q52 2356 Doncaster West Yard - Derby RTC test train via Sheffield, Stockport & Chester 1/5/25.

After having to wait for over 2 hours for a conductor to finally arrive, CSX L810 departs Cedartown after working GEO Specialty Chemicals, as seen here as they cross the diamond with Norfolk Southern’s Cedartown District. The reason for the massive delay is a bit unique to this line. Due to union agreements, because this subdivision is former SCL territory & the crews for it would have been based out of Birmingham back when it the whole line between Birmingham & Atlanta was still connected, this local is still manned by “SCL crews” that are based out of Birmingham, even though Cartersville is the official on duty-off duty location. Normally, this isn’t much of a fuss in part because the regular guys that hold it live fairly close & CSX gives whoever works it an extra $100-plus per day for working it as travel reimbursement essentially. This week, however, the regular conductor that holds it was on vacation, so they were having to pull from the extra board for conductors & on this day, they weren’t able to finally get a conductor out of Birmingham to Cartersville until sometime after 9am. This was annoying for me since I had to be at work that afternoon, thus resulting in a short chase for me, but at least a bunch of others had the chance to get it as a result of its late departure. 10-12-23

Night & day

yay, my second tattoo..a little puzzle :)

and can't wait to make the next!

how are you guys? I hope fine.

take care my flickr friends

@wallasantiago

I've edited the image using Hipstamatic, I was messing around with the app and was quite pleased with the result so thought I'd share it.

The original image is a screenshot from www.qwertee.com.

It's a t-shirt i bought a while ago, I think it's a corker!

Finally had a butterfly spend time in my garden.

Finally, he poses. Though I think I actually prefer the action shot better. Also on the Tak 35mm.

Storm Jocelyn passed through yesterday and Rob and I decided to head west to find some post-storm light. With the wind dying down around midday it was disappointing to find most of Inverpolly and Assynt blanketed in low, grey clouds. We eventually broke through the clag heading north to Stoer Point where it was almost a blue-sky day at the lighthouse. After a while having some fun capturing the stormy seas we again reversed course and headed back into a still cloudy Assynt to some potential sunset locations. We had spotted these oft photographed islands in Loch Assynt on the way up and liked the way the islands were pretty much submerged by the high water so it was great to see a glimse of the sun as it finally broke below the cloud and 10 minutes later, disappear behind the hills. This is a 3 image exposure blend to deal with the extreme dynamic range.

I have not been out with the camera for weeks due to the grim weather at the weekends and the fact I have been decorating and too knackered at the end of the day to muster up the energy to go snapping!

Anyway the weather has been superb this Bank holiday weekend so as the conditions looked good yesterday visited my favourite location to capture sunsets, Langstone Harbour, Hayling Island, Hampshire and was treated to this wonderful display of colour!

This was the first time this summer that I have visited this location to find that the sea was calm to provide some decent reflections - it was a real pleasure to watch this beautiful sunset develop!

0.8 seconds exposure using a Lee 0.6 ND grad filter.

Thanks for any comments you may wish to leave.

Fall finally showed up on the lake this morning. I was beginning to wonder.

I was impatiently waiting for spring to come...

Well folks the Holiday is over and hope everyone had a great one.

Here is the reason for all the screaming as the chick could not get the food fast enough.

I have the whole series and more but you all have the idea of what had occured so we will move on.

Thanks for visiting and as always have a wonderful day.

Been chasing this guy for months but he's always been too far, even with my telephoto. Finally, as I walked out the door to the deck, there he was, as close as he's ever been on a bush branch, seemingly ready for his close up.

I owe this shot to my husband who spotted this owl in a tree by the road. I approached it slowly and this is as close as I finally got. He gave me 10 seconds and then flew across to a field, luckily for me, on a fence…Happy Friday everyone. :)

After spending most of the day sitting on the main & even having a yard crew use for a little to switch the train, M841 departs Etowah with the 3194 on the point. 9-18-22

After weeks in the mist in the Barents Sea it is great to finally find Summer.

Finally there is nobody disturbing me all the time. Now let´s begin from the beginning. Tell me, tell me mirror dear...

After a couple weeks of trying to get a decent shot of this guy, he finally grew comfortable enough for me to just sneak within distances that allowed me to pull off an acceptable photo with the gear I currently have on hand. The light was fading fast and I had to lean harder on the iso than my old K-3 prefers, resulting in a little loss of detail from noise. Nevertheless, a slightly noisy photo is better than no photo, so I’ll check this one off as a win.

finally i’m making progress with this one
