Z57 reviews and complaints: Wikipedia picture of the day for on June 19, 2017: Retrochoir of the Roman Catholic cathedral of Seville, Seville, Spain. This wonderful Baroque style retrochoir is work of Miguel de Zumárraga and was finalized in 1635. It was constructed with precious materials like marmor or jasper and it's decorated with bas-relieves and bronce busts. The gothic painting in the middle shows the Virgin of Los Remedios, very popular in the Reconquista times and still very devoted in Spain. The temple is since 1987 a World Heritage Site according to the UNESCO and is the largest Gothic cathedral and the third-largest church in the world. When it was completed, at the beginning of the 16th century, it became the successor of Hagia Sophia as the largest cathedral in the world, a title the Byzantine church had held for nearly a thousand years. The cathedral is also the burial site of Christopher Columbus. ift.tt/2rLmJSh

This image is of a the same woman depicted in two different ways and it relates to my research question "Can you tell a person's sexuality by their clothes?" because although these pictures are being used to have a different meaning than what I'm presenting, it shows a depiction of what people think a woman would dress if she was either gay or straight. When asked to look at both pictures and determine which one of these pictures represents a gay woman, a small group of people said that the one on the right side is clearly the lesbian. But when further questioned as to why this woman was "clearly a lesbian" they did not have a clear response as to why they think this, bringing the issue of what they were raised to expect of people with different sexualities. So in the average persons eyes just because this straight model was dressed in a type of pant suit and had neatly cut hair and glasses that means that she is a lesbian to them.

This is an image of a girl dress in mens clothing and it relates to my research question "Can you tell a person's sexuality by their clothes?" because I plan on using this image in my final 4D project portion of my research. I plan on using it as a means for people to judge this particular girl dressed in a typically "gay" outfit as either being gay or straight based on stereotypes that are furthered in part by social media such as Facebook. So I will be editing this picture down to its basics, but smudging or blurring out her face so as not to personify one particular person and then pairing it up with the picture that is previously shown depicting a "straight" model and completely take away the background so her and her clothing are the main focus of the piece and so the audience I am asking the question to do not have any other variables to help in their decision, they must purely decide based on her clothing and thus the stereotypes media has enforced on people for decades.
Yesterday we worked a half day to finalize the competition by selecting and discussing all candidates, then deciding the winners. Blog competition is one of BICONS' agenda to celebrate National Flora and Fauna Day 2008 in Province of West Java. We worked in state's Environment Bureau, the official representation of the ceremony.
The finalized sketch of the head.
Fun fact, I originally made the visor too small and had to postpone the entire thing till two days later until I had the time to go buy an eraser.
Took a bit more time on the shading and lighting on this one. Illustration created in TouchDraw and Brushes, edited in Photoshop Express. All done on an iPad.

Delaware is one of 19 state health departments to receive national public health agency accreditation, Gov. Jack Markell, DHSS Secretary Rita Landgraf and Delaware Public Health (DPH) Director Dr. Karyl Rattay announced June 8 in Dover. DPH received its five-year accreditation from the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB). While such an achievement seems technical in nature, the overall outcome is that the people of Delaware will be better served by a continually improving public health agency. Delaware is the only accredited state health agency in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Accreditation also satisfies a goal of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which identified accreditation as a key strategy for strengthening our nation’s public health infrastructure. A strong public health infrastructure is more important than ever in the constantly changing local, national and global health environment.
“The Division of Public Health’s decision to seek accreditation demonstrates its commitment to continuous improvement and I congratulate the entire staff for earning this recognition after several years of hard work,” said Gov. Jack Markell. “Most important is the positive impact it will have on the people we serve through better health outcomes for all Delawareans.”
The Division of Public Health began preparing four years ago. Before submitting its application, DPH completed several crucial steps with $850,000 in federal funding support, including finalizing Delaware’s first state health improvement plan and its organizational strategic plan, addressing challenges identified in a self-assessment and strategy maps for health reform and health equity.
“Every day, there are new issues coming Public Health's way ─ Ebola, the Zika virus and the addiction epidemic," Department of Health and Social Services Secretary Rita Landgraf said in naming a few. “I am grateful for the level of expertise you provide to our state and to every Delawarean. Under Dr. Rattay’s leadership, you have built an even stronger agency through your commitment to transparency and accountability through this accreditation process.”
To increase efficiency and effectiveness, Public Health began using a performance management system, added quality improvement training and consultation, and integrated information technology infrastructure to support these initiatives. Increasingly, the public expects their state and local governments to be accountable and to meet national standards. Public Health had to show its commitment to providing high quality services to our communities.
“DPH decided to pursue accreditation not for its own sake, but to ensure we were the best we could be,” said DPH Director Dr. Karyl Rattay. “DPH must constantly evolve and respond to the needs in the community and potential health challenges far beyond Delaware. I am so proud of DPH personnel and their hard work.”
DPH formally applied for accreditation in January 2015. Over two days in November 2015, a three-person site visit team visited DPH and held 22 meetings with agency personnel and partners. The site visit team assessed 300 submitted documents, met with staff and partner organizations, and submitted their final report to the Public Health Accreditation Board.
The site visit team noted these strengths: DPH’s strategic plan; its policies, procedures, and financial management; its internal support for public messaging; and its efforts to create a culture of evidence-based public health practice and partnership building. Team members stated that their impression was that DPH operates at a high level of achievement and is a proven and trusted partner with community agencies, the state legislature and the Secretary’s office. In addition, DPH staff has tools they need to support population health, and there are opportunities to further engage communities.
In the Mid-Atlantic region, there are four accredited county and local health departments besides DPH. They are: the Philadelphia Department of Public Health, the Erie County Department of Health in Erie, Pennsylvania; the Township of Bloomfield Department of Health and Human Services in Bloomfield, New Jersey; and the District of Columbia Department of Health in Washington, D.C.

Helping finalize Walcott Adams Verneuille Architects’ green vision, Artcraft Awning was contacted based on a referral to help convert a pre-existing building into
Fairhope’s Windmill Market.
The market features 65 open-air spaces that change each weekend offering
produce, arts and crafts and the awnings were an essential part in completing the entirely sustainable location.
By extending the market’s roof, the awnings provide shade and weather protection for perimeter vendors. In addition to providing a practical use for the market, the awnings have also proved important in completing the market’s “green” aesthetic appeal.
“The awnings were such an important part of the
transition of the old run-down building into the market we have today,” said Mac Walcott,
Windmill Market’s architect.
Providing shade, weather protection, and visual appeal, our awnings have helped Windmill Market transition a pre-existing building into its current uniquely green, sustainable location.

Taking the day off to work on finalizing Assignment 4 of Social Documentary.
Clock is ticking I must complete the course by mid-May or fail, so need to get this out of the way so that I can work on Assignment 5 in April. Sheesh, I started this study as a form of relaxation:)
These are a set of contact sheets that I have created to help whittle down to the 12 photographs that I will submit. The photographer I have chosen is Robert Frank. My visual style is not Frank's and I have no intent to try and reproduce the look of a 1950's B&W film based Leica. However, I am trying to adopt his methods and content. My use of B&W is incidental to Frank, I have used this course as an attempt to explore the medium, colour is more my thing.
What I am trying to do here is to examine the people of Munich, who they are, what they do. Each photo needs to stand alone and contain a narrative of its own, I want them to ask questions of the viewer and require a reading. Each should have layers of meaning if possible. This is my interpretation of "in the style of", as well as paralleling Frank's study of 1950's Americans. It might be a tough sell, but this is me and my work not Frank's. I took the photos over the entire 2 years of the course, and these are a reduction from several thousand images.
I am also thinking of adding an element of August Sander to this work, each photograph should be a person type, but not necessarily a profession. I am thinking, child, football fan, cop, tourist, OAP, drunk. In a sense this supplies the context for the study , whilst the narrative is contained within each shot.
Any comments, good or bad on this idea would be very welcome, although in the interests of time anyone suggesting a new approach will be politely ignored.
