Helping finalize Walcott Adams Verneuille Architects’ green vision, Artcraft Awning was contacted based on a referral to help convert a pre-existing building into

Fairhope’s Windmill Market.

The market features 65 open-air spaces that change each weekend offering

produce, arts and crafts and the awnings were an essential part in completing the entirely sustainable location.

By extending the market’s roof, the awnings provide shade and weather protection for perimeter vendors. In addition to providing a practical use for the market, the awnings have also proved important in completing the market’s “green” aesthetic appeal.

“The awnings were such an important part of the

transition of the old run-down building into the market we have today,” said Mac Walcott,

Windmill Market’s architect.

Providing shade, weather protection, and visual appeal, our awnings have helped Windmill Market transition a pre-existing building into its current uniquely green, sustainable location.

While finalizing my portfolio I realized how much I enjoy many of my photos in B&W. I am not sure why I decided against this one orginally in B&W, but I feel like it works well.

April 9, 2018 - Finalization at the OKC Courthouse

Taking the day off to work on finalizing Assignment 4 of Social Documentary.

Clock is ticking I must complete the course by mid-May or fail, so need to get this out of the way so that I can work on Assignment 5 in April. Sheesh, I started this study as a form of relaxation:)

These are a set of contact sheets that I have created to help whittle down to the 12 photographs that I will submit. The photographer I have chosen is Robert Frank. My visual style is not Frank's and I have no intent to try and reproduce the look of a 1950's B&W film based Leica. However, I am trying to adopt his methods and content. My use of B&W is incidental to Frank, I have used this course as an attempt to explore the medium, colour is more my thing.

What I am trying to do here is to examine the people of Munich, who they are, what they do. Each photo needs to stand alone and contain a narrative of its own, I want them to ask questions of the viewer and require a reading. Each should have layers of meaning if possible. This is my interpretation of "in the style of", as well as paralleling Frank's study of 1950's Americans. It might be a tough sell, but this is me and my work not Frank's. I took the photos over the entire 2 years of the course, and these are a reduction from several thousand images.

I am also thinking of adding an element of August Sander to this work, each photograph should be a person type, but not necessarily a profession. I am thinking, child, football fan, cop, tourist, OAP, drunk. In a sense this supplies the context for the study , whilst the narrative is contained within each shot.

Any comments, good or bad on this idea would be very welcome, although in the interests of time anyone suggesting a new approach will be politely ignored.

April 9, 2018 - Finalization at the OKC Courthouse

Nov. 12

This image again depicted the same woman dressed in two different outfits and it relates to my research question "Can you tell a person's sexuality by their clothes?" because it shows, although with a bit of over exaggeration, how people think a straight sexy woman should dress and how a classic lesbian would dress. When I asked a small group of my peers again, they instantly stated that the woman on the left is straight and the woman on the right is a lesbian. When I asked them why they said that the one on the left was either "too sexy to be gay" or "gay woman do not dress like that". Not only does that bring to question why lesbians cannot look attractive to a straight male but also why did they choose the way they chose?
