See the Fins here

General Motors certainly had it right with their various models of the 1950's. None were finer than the 57 with its sweeping rear fins and regal front end. I took this image and the one below last night while attending cruise night in downtown Winnipeg.

This is from a photo shoot I did for a local architecture firm, New City Design Group. The restaurant is called Fins and is in the heart of downtown Raleigh. The lights on the ceiling are fabric and were custom designed by a local artist specifically for this project along with the V-shaped light on the far back column. And if that's not cool enough, there's a water wall separating the dining area from the bar.

Very slick place and a lot of fun to photograph. Special thanks to NCDG, Fins and matthewblakepowers.

One of those locations where I wished I had more time to explore. You can head down to the beach and swim in the relatively protected beach. I saw a few adventurous souls that swamp out to the fin like structures too.

Petite ambiance brumeuse de ces derniers jours. On a pris un peu d'avance sur l'automne j'ai l'impression.

In Canada, fin whale populations occur in both the North Atlantic and North Pacific. The fin whale was once quite common in Canadian Pacific waters, but commercial whaling activity has greatly reduced their numbers. Fin whales generally travel alone or in small groups far offshore.

One of the tricks of photographing great white sharks (Carcharodon carcharias) up-close is avoiding the sweeping caudal fin (aka tail fin) when they pass by. White sharks can reach speed bursts of up to 40km/h with a few strokes of their powerful tails.

Of all the retro things being resurrected fins is the one smooth thing they leave out. smh
