Doing homework on the portrait chapter of a photography book. Tried out a 'fill flash' under bright afternoon light.
Rule of Composition
- The camera focuses on the detail of the leaves with minimum distractions at the back of the subject. The subject details are magnified to show its features.
Why it's a good photo
- The brown background contrasts well with the subject that is green. This helps viewers focus more on the subject. It is interesting because we do not look at leaves up close to see its details.
How it could be improved
- The background could be blurred out more to show a stronger contrast. The image should be cropped to fill the photo with the subject only.
Each time I go and fill up the gas tank in our car, I try to make it in such a way that the total cost ends up as a whole dollar value, rather than, say, $18.15. My wife always reprimands me because I put more gas than I should, as indicated by the automatic mechanism that clicks when the tank is supposedly full. This afternoon, though, it automatically stopped at a round $17 without my intervention. Modern psychologists will probably label me as having obsessive compulsive disorder, but I'd rather have that than not being able to find simple joys in absolutely trivial and inconsequential events each day.
The Gayatri Yajna which was for 24 hours filled the air with vibrant chanting from the outset. Before the Yajna commenced there was Guru Abhishek and some prayers to initiate the start of the Yajna.The next hours were filled with non stop chanting which took everyone deeper into the chanting of the mantra. After the 24 hour Yajna had been completed an abhishek was offered to Gayatri Ma along with vibrant kirtan. Guruji had ended the event with giving an incredible talk on the meaning of each word of the Gayatri Mantra. The 24 hours flew by and the air was filled with Her vibration, 24 hours not to be forgotten so easily. Here are a few impressions of the day for you to have an idea of the special and unique event.
