Abandoned temples of Angkor were left to the jungle to reclaim... or so the story goes; however, a new study suggests that Angkor Wat was never actually abandoned (after its sacking by the Thai Kingdom of Ayutthaya) at all. According to archaeologist Asst. Prof. Alison Carter, "It [Angkor Wat] seems to have undergone transformations at the same time that the broader Angkorian society was also reorganizing. Significantly, though, Angkor Wat was never abandoned. What can be abandoned is the tired cliche of foreign explorers “discovering” lost cities in the jungle."

Walking throught the apulian countryside is usual to find secular fig trees in the middle of wheat fields kissed by sun.

My neighbor Ms WhiteCat has a slight megalomania. Like all cats, by the way, but here she reaches summits!

Un petit accès de mégalomanie, facile de toiser les pauvres humains depuis un tel perchoir....

There's a sunrise and a sunset every single day, and they're absolutely free.

If you want to be reminded of the love of the Lord, just watch the sunrise.

The secret to a good morning is to watch the sunrise with an open heart.

Be the morning in everyone's eyes and make their day turn into a thing of beauty.

What are the roots that clutch, what branches grow out of this stony rubbish?

We sit there in the couch now and then, Gertrud and I, between the fig tree and the date palm. In the early summer night we listen to the common blackbird.

To make a temporal symmetry I made three shots, and printed two and put on the wall. The second with the two of us.

I was out and about in the forest yesterday with the feeling that something was watching me but I could not figure it out as all I could see was an old fig tree which I captured with my phone.

It must have just been the low mist on the forest floor that spooked me. HSS

Whenever I visit this place, I feel as though I’ve been transported to another time, and wanted the image to reflect that feeling.

Fifty days after Easter comes "Kataklysmos" - the Day of the Holy Ghost. In Cyprus it is celebrated by fairs held on the water fronts.

Kataklysmos is a water-based festival that takes place along the beachfront, on Saturday of the Pentecost and Whit Monday.

The date for Kataklysmos follows the Orthodox Calendar, falling each year on Sunday of the Pentecost and Monday of the Holy Spirit.

Protaras is a predominantly tourist resort which comes under the administrative jurisdiction of Paralimni Municipality in Cyprus. In ancient times, where Protaras is now located, stood the old city-state of Leukolla. The city possessed a small safe harbour where the Athenian Demetrius Poliorketes sought refuge in the year 306 BC, lying in wait for Ptolemeos, one of the successors of Alexander the Great.

Just like many other Christian brothers and sisters, I eagerly long for the second coming of the Lord Jesus . We abide by the following passage from the Bible: “Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord” (1 Thessalonians 4:17). For this reason, we foolishly look up to the skies longing for the day that Jesus will return and take us up into the clouds so that we can be with the Lord. However, after so many years have passed, the four blood moons have already appeared; earthquakes, famines, plagues and war and all sorts of other disasters are becoming more and more intense. The prophecies of the Lord’s second coming have basically been fulfilled. However, we still have not seen one Christian raptured into heaven. I cannot help but think, “Why does the Lord not come to receive us? The Lord is trustworthy. The Lord promised that He would take us into the heavenly kingdom in the last days. The Lord’s promise certainly will be accomplished and fulfilled. I do not doubt this at all. Yet, how come up until now, we still have not been raptured by the Lord into heaven? Could it be that there are some problems with our longing?”

The Malabar grey hornbill (Ocyceros griseus) is a hornbill endemic to the Western Ghats and associated hills of southern India. They have a large beak but lack the casque that is prominent in some other hornbill species. They are found mainly in dense forest. They move around in small groups, feeding on figs and other forest fruits. Their loud cackling and laughing call makes them familiar to people living in the region.
