This strangler fig is not as big as the "Curtain Fig Tree" near Yungaburra on the Atherton Tablelands, but is still quite a big size. The Clohesy River is between Cairns and Mareeba. The other one of the three giant strangler figs is the Cathedral Fig Tree near Yungaburra also. The Curtain Fig Tree is the most photographed tree in the world.

Good day, today, of filling garden pots with newly purchased plants. It was a t-shirt sunny day.
Fig Tree Bay is a sandy beach in the resort of Protaras, Cyprus. The sandy beach stretches for 500m and the waters are clean enough for the beach to have been awarded blue flag designation. The beach, which runs the length of its own cove, takes its name from the fig trees located close to the coast.

We learned there are several varieties of tomatoes growing in the garden area at this Magnificat House facility. They have some large fig trees and other fruit trees there as well. Brian really liked this area!
Four Bean Salad aka Bay Breeze in Quilts & More Summer 2008. One charm pack + two fat quarters = one fun little quilt. Fabric used are Allspice by Fig Tree & Co. for Moda.
Blogged here.
This micromoth is also known as the Fig Leaf Roller. The larvae feed on fig trees and are protected by a web of silken threads. Spotted on a hollyhock, close to a fig tree in Brittany. Teigne du figuier, xylopte du figuier. Choreutis nemorana.
Cultivos sobre picón negro en la zona de Tinajo con un antiguo cono volcánico al fondo - Lanzarote, Islas Canarias.
Crops on black volcanic ash near Tinajo with an old volcano in the background - Lanzarote, Canary Islands.
The trunk of an old fig tree in a friend's garden.
Fig Tree.
In winter, silvered branches lean
against the limewashed wall
of the timbered manor house.
The Tudor hall, box-hedged,
with cobbled path and herbal lawn,
rebuilt in city’s residential streets for preservation,
the latticed windows, and black-stained beams,
incongruous in present company,
the nearby modern factory producing ersatz sweets
for the modern taste.
The twigs are furred, soft, downy, like an infant’s head,
newborn, with large buds waiting for the year’s re-birth,
when this medieval garden puts forth
the simple flowers of the past: lovage, prima rosa,
fennel’s fragrant fronds, medicinal-seeded peony, heartsease.
The leaves break through like spreading hands,
with startling haste, light filtering between the fingers,
picking out the robust veins beneath.
Suddenly, the image of our shameful parentage makes sense:
they hid their nudity with foliate hands,
shielded their fig-fruit parts with coverings of green,
a sheath which did not fool their Lord.
Sex was not their offence, but pride,
independence and discernment, origins of first disease,
which let them see their nakedness and difference,
gave cause to hide within their Eden.
And yet they knew the Gardener would seek them out,
would recognise their self-inflicted state,
and know their dubious motivation,
their self-deluding insurrection.
Already sealed their fate: outcast, outlawed,
the garden guarded with a blazing sword.
Never-ending thirst for knowledge still a future burden,
they took only the constant hunger for perfection,
a tendency towards rebellious doubt,
and the fig.
Harar is the center of Ethiopian Islam and sometimes considered by the muslims to be the fourth-holiest city in the world after Mecca, Medina and Jerusalem. The first European to visit this place was the explorer Richard Burton in 1855. But the most famous resident was the french poet Arthur Rimbaud. He lived in Harar between 1880 and 1891 and was the first to travel in the nearby province of Ogaden. The atmosphere of Harar with its narrow streets and 99 mosques is really unique.
I don't think toucans would see this tree in their home range, but they really seem to like them here. The pair of toucans in the aviary are tough to shoot because they hide way up in the canopy where it's far away and dark and the background is very bright and there are often branches and leaves in the way.
At first, I thought their eyes were blue, but I noticed in my images that it's their eyelids that are blue, not their eyes. Still, they're very colorful and I hope to get a good shot of one some day.
I don't know if the Filipino dish Adabo is related to this fig or not.

A day of protest, police, chainsaws and woodchips sees nine Morteon Bay figtrees removed from Anzac Parade at the point where the cut and cover tunnel will intersect the busy arterial road.
Although discussion apparently got heated at times, the constable I chatted to indicated no problems during the day.
