Sky was on fire last week up here at Big Bear Lake, CA. Elevation is 6700ft. Beautiful place to spend the summer.

A blocked side canyon in the Fiery Furnace area of the Arches National Park
Fiery Furnace is an area where tall sandstone fins form lots of narrow parallel canyons. Some canyons are just wide enough for a person to squeeze through. It is fun to hike, but requires a permit and you need to be careful not to get lost.
A beautiful, fiery red and yellow – somewhat alien, yet also very elegant – lady from Mendocino, California. Captured in morning light on a foggy morning on the California coast.
This flower reminds me of a fire!
Flickr friend Jo told me it is a Rudbeckia, and yes, it seems it is the variety 'Berlin'. It is in my garden but as part of a mix of flowers we sow because they attract insects.

I do remember this sunset so vividly, which were exactly this colors. Some people just stopped the car, made a quick click at it. :-))
A red Hibiscus
Today we had the hottest day so far this summer about 43C in coastal areas of Sydney, even hotter inland. The Hibiscuses do not seem to mind the heat.
