I probably did these bad (and not-to-scale) sketches with a medium tipped pen, not this fine (ha!) one.

www.pragmatik.org

I made address and phone list as well. Once I make it, I can reuse it. I use 6pt to 7pt tiny fonts for the list. Listed here are myself (in case I drop this fieldnote), my parents, my company, supervisor, colleagues. Keep minimum.

Using my first Field Notes book to record the coffees I have had this year. I purchased a coffee card that gets me one year of free coffee, iced tea, and soft drinks on December 19, 2007: $130.

Drank enough coffee by March 3, 2008 to have paid off the card.

Spent the day (and yesterday) listening to student presentations and taking notes.

Hooray! Blue arrived today. After denying myself so many purchases, a pack of three notebooks is really splashing out! Also, husband cracked a laugh over the "Band of Rubber" included. I love the clicky ballpoint pens that come with these, but secretly not a fan of the pencil other than as a desk accessory. Nevermind. I had to amend this because I just sharpened one up, and the lead was much softer than I remembered. Just about perfect in fact, but I still love the Rhodias - their orange and black color scheme look smashing with Field Notes.

Outgoing notes include:

The Euthanasia Coaster

“The Plague Year” by Lawrence Wright

My Favourite Films of 2020

Lokmades and the Kalikantzari

Dan Harmon's Circle Theory of Story

“The Things” by Donald Hall

Machine Zone; Scripturient; Pettifogger; Kenopsia; Karoshi / Gwarosa; Bibliomancy

Chuck Palahniuk; Susan Sontag; Jean-Luc Godard; Takashi Miike; Beethoven; John Cassavetes; Charles Willeford; Ray Bradbury; Anthony Burgess; Martin Luther King; Jean Cocteau

The pages of my Field Notes notebook are coming loose at the staples. Time to switch to a new one, I guess. I think I have some new blank notebooks around here somewhere.

.

The Zebra F-701 fine-point pen isn't my favorite to write with, but I've never had one leak in my pocket, which has been an issue with gel and roller ball pens.

.

I needed some working-on-stuff trousers. Several of the belt loops on my inexpensive denim jeans are broken and the knees are worn through. I thought I'd try a pair of Wrangler "carpenter pants."

.

After nearly a month of daily wear, the Seestern DOX01 wristwatch is proving to be an adequate "tool watch."

.

Amusing comment I read online today, specifically about pocket notebooks but applicable to pretty much any "boutique" product:

"'You haven't heard of it and they're impossible to get' died out with the hipsters in 2019."

Polished, nickel-plated trim. Smooth plastic for smooth handling. Really. Make a gun out of the things, just like in 4th grade. Square deal.(From Field Notes Website)

tree of codes. & i started on a new field notes notebook. this is where i write my thoughts. sometimes they even make it to the internet.

anyway, i really loved this book.

& also, i was listening to the xx.

oh, and the red isn't a light leak! it's from my pajamas.

It's been a few weeks and I finished another notebook. I decided to switch it up again this time with the standard classic.

I have been using primarily graph-style paper for the last few editions here ever since switching from the Shelterwood series so I decided to use classic lined.

I have been going through notebooks more quickly lately and I think that is due to my small studio.

During the course of my day, I write down the things I think are important or what I want to accomplish. It is less of a to-do list and more of a historical record of what I did.

Now with my studio, I have been sketching out shoot ideas and project plans complete with diagrams. It's been a while since I just sketched designs freehand, but it feels great.

Following on from our recent review, here’s a quick reference for Ilford’s fine detail, old school contrast monster, FP4+.

Here’s what they have to say:

For high quality black and white photography, ILFORD FP4 PLUS is unrivalled. Its very fine grain, outstanding...

i stumbled upon this classic combo of field notes and flannel and looked down.

indeed, i was wearing field notes and flannel and a canadian tuxedo and a union suit.

the union suit is actually from the kittery trading post in kittery, maine, but i'm not sure you can get a more classic wisconsin ensemble.

( and in case you're wondering odin traded me the amber edition he picked for the dark brown-black stout. )
