Sunday challenge - Chinese elements.
Five Elements Theory is a Chinese philosophy used to describe interactions and relationships between things. The five elements — wood, fire, earth, metal, and water — are believed to be the fundamental elements of everything in the universe between which interactions occur...
Five Elements Theory first appeared during the Spring and Autumn Period (770–476 BC). It became widespread: mostly used in Chinese medicine, philosophy, fengshui, fortune-telling, and martial arts.
Wood separates earth (tree roots breaking up soil/rock).

This is the scene which my dad's describe to me about his childhood view on the Gate to his Home Town, DongLin Town in DongShan Island.
He traveled by Sedan Chair carried by 8 porters'. His dad's my grandpa's traveled by horse & sedan chair as well.
I am told that my late grandpa's have 2 guns with him. He have the tradional Qin Dynasty Officers' head dress(it does symbolized the various status of the position in their imperial court status from the color & design), the Western Military commander hat & the CowBoy hat!!
My dad's hardly see him return home to sleep; when he is back from his trans-continental business trip.
N.B.
I can recalled that; My late grandpa wear the Brown color CowBoy hat during my childhood. At noon time when he took a nap at his fishing pond's bamboo hut; He would cover my face using his Cowboy hat!!
12th hours before he died in 1961, he told me that:
"Son, I cannot make it to become a Global Business Tycoon.
I cannot make it to America!!
Although I have travel to central europe & Middle East...
I did not make it to America!!
According to my god-brother the ShaoLin abbot, you are going to succeed in the Western World!!
You are going to make it!!
Only You!! My Son."
I just wonder why he said my son?? I am his grandson!!
It is 1st time I see people dying in my young life, more so he is my grandpa!! So I asked him why he say that, he said he resign to his Karma & his fate based on his year, day & time of birth.
They have check yours' & that is what I said to you.
He said he is a self make man, he loose the wealth then he make it back , & it is even greater heights each time. These have had happened 3 times in his life!!
Grandpa is well verse with Feng-Shui, Astrology (both for Marinetimes & Fortune Reading), poem, arts, herbs & medicines, Kung Fu, .....etc.
Oh yes, he enjoy gourmet food too. His famous desert is Tappiocal Glue with sugar after meals!! Which I don't like it.
After a few drinks, he like to compose his own poems & writes caligraphy!!
So in his last word, he said:
Yes, A person cannot be resign to his/her fate, until he/ she last day in this world!!
He have over 11 children & 30 over grandsons' & grand daughters' and another 50 odds adopted children!!
I was only about 6th years old, but he said these to me.
I was worrying that I might get the T.B. & die later, if I getting too close to him.
As T.B. is the deadly disease of that era!!
pick a gemstone -- really
the upper left are petrified wood and the rest are the fossilized shell of an ammonite. The gemstone is called ammolite and is only found in one region of the bears paw formation in southern Alberta, Canada. I love working with this rare precious gemstone.

Jiujiang is a port city on the Yangtse river with Mt.Lushan in the background, which is the ideal setting for cities according to Fengshui (風水 - Chinese geomancy). Thanks to this, Jiujiang is an old city and used to be a cultural hub for Chinese intellectuals.
Later in the early 20th century, it served as the main gateway to Mt. Lushan as most of the western expatriates from Shanghai used to come by boat to escape the summer heat in lowland China.

Well luck and prosperity seem to of come true for my lovely, lucky, Feng Shui cat, that gold chain looks expensive .... now I'm hoping the Lucky cat changes my prosperity because I would like a gold chain too.

Hi everyone, I hope you all having a wonderful week. :-)
Sorry I haven't had much time to catch up lately, I can't seem to find enough time in a day, but I am trying.
My house is nearing completion and is taking up a lot of my time finishing off thing and organising the finishing touches.

Sunset at Blue Lake (northeastern corner of Lassen County). Shot the day the #w5coldsprings fire started so some smoke was already rolling in. Rest of the trip was pretty darn hazy and we broke camp the day before the Forest Service would have MADE us break camp.
Then we got home just in time to jump back in our camp trailer and evacuate from the #sheepfire. It's been an interesting couple weeks!

My new Maneki-neko lucky cat was heard last night meowing, scratching and making one Hell of a commotion in my front room.
The morning after I spotted what the racket was last night, my Japanese good luck Bobtail feline had ripped up an old Coke can to ribbons with it's sharp claws and teeth.
Now with Coke can ribbons covering her head she looked rather mysterious peeping through from within.
Well I couldn't really believe my eyes so grabbed my camera and took this image .... a mysterious cat for sure!
