I was out hoping for some Ford Mustang arrivals to the preview event for Props & Ponies 2015, but instead just caught... other vehicles. Considering I'm attempting to make sure the Skagit Regional Airport Flickr group is more than just warbirds, figured I'd post this image. Federal Express' base at Skagit Regional Airport is a vital tenant to the Port of Skagit.

when I met her for the first time. www.airliners.net/photo/Federal-Express/Boeing-727-22(F)/.... She was still donning Federal Express' first colors while resting before a next consignment of parcels and freight to be hauled during the subsequent night.

Built as a passenger aircraft, 18863/227 started her useful life with United as N7056U. She kept flying with Federal Express as N166FE after conversion as a freighter/parcel hauler.

In 2006, she was transfered to Europe and performed her very last flight on June 20th 2007 from London/Stansted to Paris/Le Bourget in anticipation of her donation to the air and space museum. Her arrival at LBG recorded by Philippe Ballerstedt www.airliners.net/photo/FedEx-Express/Boeing-727-22(F)/12...

This little jet revolutionized a whole new form of air transport, the overnight package business. I am still old enough to remember those Federal Express TV ads showing a whole fleet of these sleek French jets lined up. By the 1980s, the company was so successful, they were flying DC-10s and, later, Boeing 747s and Airbus A300s and A310s. The mighty company traces its roots to this mighty little French business jet, the first to be offered as a cargo plane.
