Interesting lineage on this bird, first delivered to Overseas National Airways (ONA) in September, 1978. From there it went through Seaboard World, Loftleidir, Garuda Indonesia, Air Florida, Spantax, and finally FedEx in May 1984. Seen here in what is likely the twilight of its career departing Phoenix, AZ on March 6, 2013.

Delta Air Lines N810DE McDonnell Douglas MD-11 c/n 48565. Year of manufacture: 1993. Aircraft first registered: 1 March 1994.
N810DE was a McDonnell Douglas MD-11 aircraft that was originally delivered to Delta Air Lines on March 1, 1994, where it operated as a passenger aircraft. FedEx acquired the aircraft on the 15 October 2004 and subsequently converted it to a freighter configuration. It was re-registered as N525FE in March 2005 and entered into service as a cargo aircraft. It has been given the name ‘McKinnon’.
As of November 2025, N525FE is an active part of the FedEx Express fleet. However, its operational status is currently subject to an industry-wide safety measure. Following a recent fatal crash of a different MD-11F, the FAA issued an emergency airworthiness directive on November 8, 2025, grounding all MD-11 and MD-11F aircraft for immediate structural inspections. The aircraft cannot fly again until these mandatory inspections of the engine and pylon assemblies are completed and any necessary repairs are made. FedEx is in the process of performing these inspections, after which the aircraft is expected to return to service.

The above image is a scan from an original Kodachromeâ„¢ slide. The default size is 2000 x 1250 pixels, so clicking on the photo will enlarge it for better viewing.
The original image comes from my slide collection, amassed over the past 40+ years. They are a combination of my own photographs and ones acquired over those years.
I created this Photostream in 2017 for the purpose of holding my slide collection as an archive, as otherwise they would just remain in binders and boxes, not being enjoyed by anyone, myself included.
Comments are welcome.

Still sporting the colors of Hawaiian Airlines, this former American Airlines tri jet (N132AA) had recently been converted to an MD-10 (N568FE) for FedEx in 2006. Here it is outside of FedEx Hangar 12 for a pre-service check before flying to get fresh paint. It only flew in the purple for three years before being stored at Victorville in 2009.

Delivered new to Singapore Airlines on April 24th 1993 as 9V-STB. Moved to Air India as VT-AIG in July 2004 then converted to freight use with Federal Express as N819FD in September 2007.
This is an image from my collection. Although predominantly slide scans, it includes other types of media as well. All have been collected over the past 40+ years of shooting Kodachrome and digital images, slide purchases and many years of exchanging. I was fortunate enough to trade with some of the best airliner photographers around the world.
Created in 2017, this is a curated archive that serves to share what otherwise would be kept in binders and boxes, not being enjoyed by anyone, myself included.
