Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport - PANC / ANC

Former Federal Express Boeing 727-233(A)(F) N257FE,

MSN 20939, "Felicia."

This aircraft was originally delivered to Air Canada in 1975 as C-GAAH. Online resources indicate that it was acquired by FedEx and converted to freighter service in 1991.

It is now a training aid for fire fighting, de-icing and other activities.

It really was an accident that the word "HOLD" painted on the ramp was cropped to just "OLD" when I composed this photo.

On July 28, 2006, N391FE flew from SEA to MEM as FedEx FLT 630. Upon landing on Runway 18R the left main landing gear collapse due to a fatigue crack in the Schrader valve mounting hole. The aircraft was a total loss eventually being scrapped in February 2007. There were no injuries or fatalities.

Here cranes are seen the day after the accident attempting to lift the jet to allow for removal from the runway.

The above image is a scan from an original Kodachromeâ„¢ slide. The default size is 2000 x 1250 pixels, so clicking on the photo will enlarge it for better viewing.

The original image comes from my slide collection, amassed over the past 40+ years. They are a combination of my own photographs and ones acquired over those years.

I created this Photostream in 2017 for the purpose of holding my slide collection as an archive, as otherwise they would just remain in binders and boxes, not being enjoyed by anyone, myself included.
