The western slopes of Bald Rock - not as steep as the eastern face, but would still be a fatal fall if you slipped.

The slab I was sitting on sloped down to the outside. A slight unbalance would mean a fatal fall, not a wise pose, really.

Ras El Soda Temple consists of an ascending staircase leading to a high platform with four white marble columns, in the middle of which is a pedestal with foot on it and bearing some Greek inscriptions reads (Isidorus presented this foot to the godess who saved him after a fatal fall from his chariot).

Lining up in the Listed 32Red Hurdle as an even-money favourite, Darlan looked a likely winner as he cruised to the last in the hands of Tony McCoy.

However, the Nicky Henderson-trained runner met the hurdle all wrong and crashed to the ground.

What we weren't able to photograph was my potentially fatal fall down the endless spiral staircase inside.

I am told that there is a story associated with this balcony. A child fell off it and in memory of its fatal fall, a light is always lit (now electricity).

Apparently, this was a wedding present. Ah, that we should all be so lucky.

(Actually, the wife died three years after the building was completed, and their eldest daughter had a fatal fall off her horse shortly afterwards, resulting in the husband/father's spiral into madness and an antipathy toward the property and its sale and rapid decline, but...that's not the point!)

This pit is 38 feet tall and was the site of an infamous and fatal fall back on December 28th, 1950. Donald Ball fell to his death after exploring the cave with 3 friends. After nearly 23 hours he was rescued and taken to Vanderbilt Hospital but his injuries were too severe. He died 3 days later of massive head trauma, a skull fracture, and a blood clot in the brain. The person in the image is guide Mitchell Yetter.

WOMAN'S FATAL FALL.

FIVE STOREYS TO GROUND.

ESCAPE OF PEDESTRIAN.

Fatal injuries were sustained by Mrs. Florence Wilson, widow, aged 60, who resided at 119, Lake Road, Takapuna, as the result of falling to the footpath from a window on the fifth floor of Ngapuhi Chambers. Lorne Street, about 1.20 yesterday. afternoon. A pedestrian, Mr. W. T. Edney, was only 10ft away. Death, was instantaneous, medical examination revealing that many bones were broken; and that the skull fractured.

The window from which Wilson fell is in the premises, of the Majestic School of Dancing, conducted by Mademoiselle Valerie Valeska and Mr. Leo Wilson, son of the deceased.

For some time Mrs. Wilson had been suffering from nervous dyspepsia and Neurasthenia and she was also subject to frequent fainting fits. Yesterday morning Mr. Wilson took her to the Auckland Hospital with the intention of arranging for treatment for her. However, Mrs. Wilson refused to enter the hospital and accompanied her son to his rooms in the Ngapuhi Chambers, arriving there about one o'clock, Mr. Wilson put his mother on a couch, telling her to lie down until he returned in about an hour. She agreed to do so and her son thereupon set out for St. Heliers Bay on business, leaving a window in the room open to ensure plenty of fresh air in case of his mother feeling faint. He locked the door from the outside to prevent callers from annoying Mrs. Wilson, but left a key with the deceased, so that she could leave the room if she desired. Returning about two o'clock Mr. Wilson was informed of the accident.

It is presumed Mrs. Wilson was suddenly seized with an attack of faintness and rushed to the open window for air. There her faintness may have overcome her, causing her to topple through a window, the bottom ledge of which is not more than 3ft. from the floor.

minor chance of fatal fall

The mother flew down below and started quacking to her babies above. In disbelief Michael watched as the first fuzzy newborn trustingly toddled to the edge and astonishingly leapt into thin air, crashing onto the cement below. Michael couldn't stand to watch this risky effort nine more times! He dashed out of his office and ran down the stairs to the sidewalk where the first obedient duckling, near its mother, was resting in a stupor after the near-fatal fall. Michael stood out of sight under the awning-planter, ready to help.

my friends are so crazy! both the girl on the left and the boy on the right, are hanging on a rusty metal, and they could fall to ethier a very deep water, or a very deep fall into huge rocks that can become a fatal fall. Anyways it came out good and they are still alive!

The last picture ever taken by my Canon 10D. It suffered a fatal fall just after this photo was recorded.

A landslide wiped out the trail. It's not captured with this shot, but a slip would likely be a fatal fall into the river. Not sure why I thought taking a picture was a better idea than lending a helping hand.
