Macro Mondays
Theme: Fasteners

A lamp finial, sometimes decorative, is used to secure (fasten) the lamp shade to the lamp (often via a harp)..
This picture was taken for Macro Mondays "Fasteners" theme. It is the joint on a smal, slightly battered, lamp.
A Raynox M-250 was used to allow closer focusing.
The hinge assembly provides a means to fasten the door to the door frame. The hinge pin fastens the two parts of the hinge together.
Macro Monday theme for 02/19/2018: "fastener"
For this week's MM I spent ages setting up a cool scene with interesting lighting, trying to get it just right, and then I photographed my coat that was lying in the corner instead :D Classic MM Photoshoot.
So this is one of the shoulder fastenings on my coat.

When a fastener is art as well as function - a shark cufflink to fasten shirt sleeves around wrists!

Tamrac Adventure 7 Camera Bag Mini-Review
www.tamrac.com/AdventureBacpacks.htm
I do a lot of day trekking with my camera. By a lot, I mean every day I'm out in the mountains anywhere from an hour to all day. I needed a way to carry my gear backpack style. I didn't want to leave anything at home: I wanted all of it with me. The thought of some poor lens or filter or something, left behind at home, all lonely and sad, just made me ache.
A couple of months ago I picked up a Tamrac Adventure 7 camera backpack and I haven't been able to imagine myself without it since.
This bag is very well constructed. Fit and finish are top notch, and the fasteners are rugged. The material is weather/moisture resistant and all zippers have a weather flap.
The backpack consists of a lower compartment for camera gear, a top compartment for incidentals, and a front flap pocket for memory, batteries, and other related gear.
Each side has an elastic mesh pocket which can support a tripod or a water bottle or both. The pack is equipped with a sternum strap which buckles the shoulder straps together in the front and helps distribute the load, and a waist strap which cinches around you and keeps the pack firmly in place. There are also fasteners here and there for additional Tamrac accessories which I haven't taken advantage of yet.
I was hospitalized Thursday through Sunday for Acute Pyelonephritis (kidney infection) and Sepsis. I was pretty much unconscious Thursday and Friday, battling a 104-degree fever with chills, nausea, back pain, rapid heart rate, and systemic inflammation. It hit me quickly and once the fever broke late Friday, I was out of danger. Coming home Sunday, still in the pajamas I’d worn to the ER, I felt a rush of such intense love and gratitude for my family and friends, that I knew I would have to write about the experience. This photo represents the fear and the love... my hospital allergy bracelet tucked into a small floral bouquet that my dear friend Terzah brought... the heart just sticking out of the top of the bouquet. Love truly does fasten us together.
If you would like to read about my entire ordeal (because I do like to write!), you can read my blog post here: Macro Monday: Fasteners.
