ESAD was present at the 47th edition of Portugal Fashion | Bloom SS'21, with the collections of Marcelo Almiscarado, Victor Huarte and Luis Bisanti, former students of the Degree in Fashion Design. Marcelo won the grand prize with the 'Pasmo' collection, Victor collected an Honourable Mention Sonae Fashion with the 'Afterlove' collection and Luis was one of the eight finalists in the competition with the 'Cornucópia' collection.

Il progetto di tesi "Textile shoes" nasce dalla mia curiosità verso il popolo Walser che ha abitato e abita tuttora, seppur in parte minore, una zona da me molto frequentata e vicina al paese dove vivo in provincia di Novara, la Valsesia.
In particolare mi sono soffermata sulle tradizionali scarpe in tessuto che oggi vengono utilizzate come pantofole: gli "Scapin".
Partendo da questo tipico modello di calzatura, ho fatto una ricerca sulle scarpe in tessuto nel mondo e nella storia, discutendo sia di scarpe che fanno parte della nostra storia, sia di scarpe che oggi vengono prodotte da designer e quindi considerate come opere d'arte.
Sulla base della mia ricerca, ho creato una collezione ispirata agli antichi abiti Walser e, reinterpretandone l’estetica, ma tenendo presente l'importanza di avere un abito comodo e caldo. I colori sono ispirati in parte agli abiti Walser e in parte alle luci del Monte Rosa. Ho usato lane grezze di vario spessore per gli abiti, mentre per le camicie, ho utilizzato la canapa, tessuto creato direttamente da questo popolo.
Ho caratterizzato ogni capo e calzatura con delle impunture in filo grosso di lana per dare movimento alla collezione.
Le scarpe sono di pelle di capra con inserti di lana. Per rendere comodi gli accessori, ho optato, come per la collezione d’abbigliamento, per la creazione di un contrasto tra il sandalo e la calza pesante.

Collages using material and drawings from my sketchbook, over model cut outs from magazines. I used a mixture of denim and clear fabric. Gathered fabric used on some of the collages link to my final designs as i used this technique.

Sorry that I havent been loading any for the pass few days. I been out with the cousin for the weekend. She wanted me to have a better graduation gift than my fat cousin since he already got a car and loads of freedom. This is one way of her being nice to me and I like it. Its almost like having an older sister that understands how our family is on us girls.
Dress inspired by lava lamp.
Say, for example, that you wanted to be a lava lamp for Halloween. This'd be your dress.
I'd make it of Satin organza, with a jersey underdress. I'd put fishing line in the edges to make them hold their shape. Depending on the angle you viewed it at, the cut-outs would take on different shapes, ad they'd sort of move and jiggle with the wearer's movements. Voila! Lava Lamp!
My Fashion Design sketchpad form the late 70's and beyond. The jacket at the top was one I made of patchwork ultra suede that I actually got paid for. Wish I had taken a picture of the finished jacket back then. The dress at the bottom right was sketched from memory after seeing Diana Ross wear it in "Lady Sings the Blues".
After years of looking for them & thinking they were lost forever, they turned up in plain site on a bookshelf at our old house.
