The lady winner of the Steam Engine Trials with her well deserved cup.
If there had been a prize for having a great 'propulsion system', in my opinion, she would have won that too.

In the Phobjhika valley there was the chance to spend a bit of time in and around a very agricultural settlement. Being early springtime it was time to sow the potato crop. it's a very timeless process, all done by hand except that there are some tractors/trailers to take the sacks away.

Thanks to Julian Hodgson for naming them. The pliers would have been used to loosen the brass ring on a lamp base fitting that frequently stuck.

This is a rear shot of the Old Brutus Historical Society Museum as seen from Route 31. It is run by volunteers and is dedicated to preserving the local history of the Town of Brutus and the Village of Weedsport. Now a little bit of history: The Town of Brutus is part of the Military Tract of central New York and is located about 20 miles west of Syracuse. This building is located along what was once the banks of the Enlarged Erie Canal, in downtown Weedsport and it once housed the Cayuga Chief Newspaper. George G. Valentine, who was the builder of the original building, was a publisher and a printer. The Historical Society Museum was chartered in 1968. It stores and displays artifacts that have been donated to the society. Displays are changed a few times a year in the main gallery and the large front windows. The permanent display, which is on the lower level, features an old time kitchen, a rural one-room schoolhouse, a cabin of a canal boat, craftsman tools, farm tools and items manufactured in the area. The museum also has local newspapers dating back to the late 1800s, scrap books, photos, and old maps. The archives contain files on the local history of Brutus, Weedsport, and other northern Cayuga towns as well as railroads, canals, trolleys, roads, etc. There are extensive genealogy files. Located at 8943 North Seneca Street (Route 34) in Weedsport, NY.
A barn without walls was usually built from pole saplings supported by large logs with a roof of palm fronds or cedar shakes. It provided shade from the sun and protection from the rain for farm tools and animals.
Old snow plough and a plough lying about outside a farm in Asker, Norway. Taken on December 9th, 2006, there's not been much use for snow ploughs this "winter", so far. Farmers that have relied some of their income on removing snow in Oslo and surrounding areas are having a hard time.
No awards or iconed group inviations, please. If you're interested in purchasing my image, please check my profile page for info.

Took a picture of this hay rake while on my motorcycle trip in North Carolina. I stayed at the "Two Wheel Inn" and in the rear of the property near sunset time I took the shot kneeling down close by with my TG-4.
