My 105 year old tenant passed away in the last few days. So I try to cope with the farewell in my own way
Silver Gull (Chroicocephalus novaehollandiae forsteri) - 20221002-04
Small gray gull with red legs. Adult has red bill (younger birds have a darker bill), white head and body, pale gray "silver" wings, which have prominent black and white tips. Abundant across much of New Zealand and coastal Australia, including inland areas around waterways and rivers. (eBird)

I knew I'd been keeping this photo for a reason! Farewell to both the gull and to 2023. May 2024 be good to you all :-)

The last flying Vulcan will now fly no more. I was glad to be able to witness her displays at Rhyl and Southport as part of her farewell tour of Britain.
Please read this link,as it describes her final flight.
The great sadness I felt when this beautiful bird left us , will not be felt as we bid farewell to 2021
All the very best to you all in 2022
It is COLD today, but the sun is shining so it's still pretty. Time to get the Winter woolies out. I wish everyone a great Saturday and thanks for your friendship and support. :-)
A tragedy is not only when human or animal life is lost. A tragedy is also when a historic landmark is destroyed. And Notre Dame de Paris, was one of them. As a photographer highly interested in architecture, a day like today saddens me deeply. It's a shame to read in the 21st century that a building that sustained wars, sieges over the span of 600 years suffered so serious damage because some people were careless. I am not French, however I understand how a part of every French person got burned today.
Farewell Notre Dame..

It’s always a sad day to say goodbye to Fantasy Faire. I tend to come to Alia Baroque’s Region to take my last photo; watching over the sailboats flowing through the pass he creates. I could sit here for hours, too! Not only to gaze at the astounding world of lights, bridge passes and magnificent buildings but to watch the diversity of magical dragons that land, the elaborate attire people adorn and whimsical fantasies flying all around me.
Fantasy Faire is a world of hope connecting strangers and friends, designers and bloggers, READ MORE HERE!

Farewell Zodiac,
Tell me it won’t matter
Promise me where ever I am
You’ll be with me
In the place where “Goodbye”
Does not matter
Because the goal and purpose
Was fulfilled.
And we shall come together again next year.

Enjoy!

Everybody calls him Stephen now but I don't know if I deserve the privilege.
I wasn't a fan. I'm sure I heard his name but not being a fan of musicals or Broadway, the name meant little to me. Then Focus announced a photo contest in his honor. Now I had a challenge to learn something more about the man.
Having listened to many of his works and watched interviews with him and those who know him best, I'm still not a fan of his work but for his creativity, passion and success I am in awe. We all have certain talents - some are more visible or mainstream and draw lots of accolades. For most of us though, finding a creative passion to escape to is the reward itself. If someone else happens to experience and appreciate whatever skill we have, I want to believe that can only encourage us to continue our pursuit of that which gives us so much joy.
And so, though I don't have years of listening pleasure to attribute to Stephen (if I may), the last several days in which I got to know him much better have been encouraging and rewarding. Not everybody is going to know of or appreciate what you do but if it brings joy to you and gives you a reason to wake tomorrow, don't stop. Keep doing it as long as you possibly can.
Saying goodbye is even harder at that romantic sunset at a Trainstation in Toscany (Italy). Intense and colourful scene.
Quindici grazie Piero Angela,
Farewell....
Again and again one sees these scenes at train and bus stations in Sri Lanka. The cohesion in the families is much more pronounced than in our country. Since the social system is not so present, the family becomes the support, especially in old age. It is such a cordial togetherness that it touches you strongly, as a foreign observer.
I took this shot at one of the Florida beaches. I talk less and observe more when I am by the sea. And I was about to pack my camera, and 30 minutes later I saw nature just unfolding itself into something magical. This was my last shot before heading home.
Ray crossed over the Rainbow Bridge today. He had not been well for a while but then a tumour appeared in his mouth just before Christmas. The vet tried some treatment but sadly it got worse and so with lots of tears we knew it was time to say goodbye to our big old boy. He had a great long life with us (he was 17 years old). We will miss him dearly

Farewell Spotty Jag, it's been great seeing you in your role at RAF Cosford but all good things must come to an end eventually
A FAREWELL TO MENG HAORAN ON HIS WAY TO YANGZHOU
You have left me behind, old friend, at the Yellow Crane Terrace,
On your way to visit Yangzhou in the misty month of flowers;
Your sail, a single shadow, becomes one with the blue sky,
Till now I see only the river, on its way to heaven.
- Li Bai -
Li Bai's poetry was immensely influential in his own time, as well as for subsequent generations in China. His influence has also been demonstrated in the immediate geographical area of Chinese cultural influence, being known as Ri Haku in Japan. This influence continues even today. Examples range from poetry to painting and to literature.
34092 City of Wells leaving Irwell Vale with a Santa Special on 11/12/2022.With the exhaust drifting across to shadow the train I took this later than intended and had written it off but as I couldn't get over for the final workings on Jan 2nd this will have to suffice as my farewell to this impressive engine

The forces of nature continually take their toll. This mighty beech tree can no longer hold its ground at the top edge of the cliff. Gradually, it slides downward along with the chalky soil, succumbing to its fate. This dramatic spectacle can be impressively witnessed on Germany's Baltic Sea island of Rügen. Vacation comes to an end. Longs Peak, I will miss you. Lots more Colorado vacation pictures to share when I get home and settled back to normal!
The growing season will almost definitely end with the freezing nights we'll have this weekend. So there's a farewell party going on in the gardens right now. Pollinators are racing to grab all the flower pollen they can to stock their Winter homes and the garden plants are drinking in as much sunlight as possible to fuel their photosynthesis.
And there are many plants still flowering - right up until the very last moment. This wonderful little pink fireworks burst is Allium thunbergii, the latest and last-blooming of the ornamental onion (allium) family. :)
