This is the gate that I spotted months ago and loved it. There was such a "golden haze" and it was about 7.45pm yesterday when I took these shots.

Posting this photo to the Fenced Friday group raises the question
"What makes something a fence?"
My photo is a close look at the pretty iron work that "fences off" both the outdoor stairs shown and the front porch (not shown) of a beautiful old villa. It seems to me that this artful iron work has three functions:
- offering us something charming to look at
- providing assistance to those needing help using stairs
- keeping people from accidentally stepping off the raised porch (not shown) and quite likely injuring themselves in the process.
SO...IS IT A FENCE?

Looks beautiful, and costs little (US$5) but unfortunately this particular one is defective. Loses about 50 minutes a day. I'd be awfully late for appointments with this watch.

Another Monday, another rough start to a week in French classes. But that's okay. It's my last full week in training and I plan to make the absolute most of it.
I am determined to have the necessary basics to communicate in the language by the time Friday afternoon rolls around.

The dahlia 'Fancy Pants' is a charming accent to any garden because of its fluttering, double blooms with a lovely blend of pink and white petals. This type of dahlia is of the decorative class and is distinguished by its structured, puffy flowers, which make a striking arrangement.
