Port Townsend’s 2023 Wooden Boat Festival brought in a wide selection of beautifully crafted wooden boats. My favorites are the richly decorated kayaks in this display. I am quite sure they are a joy to paddle as well as being excellent art creations.

Wide-angle long exposure of an inviting jungle pool. In 27-years, this pool has changed little, but it's well and truly on the map now, so it gets packed at weekends and holidays. It's holding up well, but litter is an unfortunate ongoing issue. The local authorities keep talking about an entrance fee, but once money gets involved, everything goes belly up in these here parts!

This very fancy and elegant mandarin duck drake showed up in Queen Creek, AZ, about 20 minutes from my house. These guys are native to the Far East in places like China and Japan. But colonies exist in both the UK and U.S. from ducks that have either escaped or were released into the wild. I know there are some established in California, and a couple show up in Prescott, Arizona from time-to-time. But it's very rare for the Phoenix area so I was thrilled to have had a couple opportunities to photograph this gorgeous guy. Interestingly, he befriended mallard drake and the two seem to be inseparable.

THANK YOU all for your kind comments and your curiosity. This photo was taken in southern New Zealand. In the countryside there are fences like this one. I do not know if there is any meaning. Maybe against breast cancer ????

Grumpton, myself and Colin went on a tour of local waterfalls during this current Arctic blast and this one really delivered the goods.

Weiner Falls near Sproat Lake offers a relatively tall column of water which creates fascinating ice formations because of the freezing spray.

After a sketchy climb down into the canyon we donned our ice spikes and got stuck in. This is one of my earlier compositions.

I'll be posting a full video documenting the creation of this shot but until then, fancy a dip?

This is the gate that I spotted months ago and loved it. There was such a "golden haze" and it was about 7.45pm yesterday when I took these shots.
