This cat and I were getting well acquainted in the alleyway, and there was a lot of fussing. Then someone else came along and he was scared into a garden. This is where I tempted him back. He looked lovely in his fancy collar.

Captured @ Ajaccio, Corsica, France. Tucking a more human interest kinda shot into my photostream :P

I insisted that everyone be a bit fancy for my wine and cheese party so I have to show them how its done. I didn't actually wear the shrug for long, it was too hot in my apartment. And when we went out dancing I was afraid it would get dirty. I did however wear the crown out dancing, and it was AWESOME!

Okay, I confess! I have a terrible, shameful tendency to go a little bit Hyacinth Bucket*. A sort of "Welcome-to-my-gracious-drawing-room-where-I-may-or-may-not-be-hosting-a-champagne-soiree-with-a-string-quartet-playing-in-the-corner" mentality. All absolute bollocks of course and rather embarrassing, but I can't help it! I think I caught it from my mother, and her mother. The two women used to sit and have quite serious discussions about which cake they would make "if the Queen came to tea" (Lemon Drizzle), and which china they would use (the Royal Doulton, of course), as they ate oven chips in front of 'Eastenders'. It became a sort of family joke, and if for example my grandma was trying to persuade Grandpa to get a new carpet she would say "But suppose the Queen were to pop in?"
ANYWAY. Do you like my new carboot sale coffee set? Bought for a song (I think it helped that it had just started to rain). It is 'Plant Tuscan' and according to the mark made between 1935 and 1947. It's sort of watered down Art Deco, but I love it.
So, that now makes three formal coffee sets cluttering up my cupboards! The irony is that if friends come round I'm always too embarrassed to use them, as nowadays people feel uncomfortable with formality.
* If this name is not familiar to you, she is a character from a 1990s British sitcom, obsessed with 'keeping up appearances'. Her surname is Bucket, which of course she pronounces 'Bouquet'!
I took some photos this afternoon but I wasnt happy with them ,so I picked some Jonquils which I planned to take photos of and discovered that I had rudely interupted somebodies dinner.
With it's vivid jade green hue, Jen Cafe is very easy to find. Their specialty is tea – and lots of it. From the floral sweet Chrysanthemum Honey to fruity Lemon Kumquat, most of their Asian teas can be served hot or cold to suit your mood – or temperature. Bubble teas of all colors, flavors and sweetness can also be enjoyed at Jen Café.
Outside of this, there’s enough variety on their menu to give many of Chinatown’s restaurants a run for their money. Their barbecue options are especially plentiful.

Thanks everyone a whole bunch for helping me make it to Explore!
I really do appreciate it!
I really love traditonal tattoo images. This is actually part of a drawing I did for a return address stamp, but I couldn't resist carving the swallow by itself first.
not exactly what I was expecting when I had a closer look at these tiny mushrooms :-)

Bustling market scene at Ballybricken Green in Waterford. Would imagine this refreshment van did a brisk trade in tea and coffee that day. And what a beautiful milk jug!
That's M.J. (Michael J.) Phelan's Hotel in the background at no. 14. And Poole Photographic Studio scratched out some of the sign behind the van, which reads Lipton's Tea 1s/4d (1 shilling/4 pennies).
We know that Phelan's Hotel is now Smak, East European Store thanks to Niall McAuley, and here's an approximately contemporary map from blackpoolbeach.
Thanks to swordscookie for his family tale (and for id-ing the Bull Post):
"My wifes family came from just off to the left of this shot off the Yellow Road. The cattle fair took place there right into the '60's and her younger brother loved going there when down on holidays. He invariably came home covered in cow dung as he was very small and got slapped by many a cows tail as he wandered about."
One of our NLI Facebook people, Niall Ahearne, told us that:
"The tall building to the right hand side of the photo used to be Mackeys Public house. It was known locally (to those 'in the know') as "Lourdes" because if a man wanted an early morning 'cure' badly enough he'd always get a drink in there very early in the morning by giving a discreet (I suppose) knock on the side door!" Niall also said: "do ye see the tall chimney above the "r" in the Waterford sign? I would venture to suggest that that was from the old Strangman's Brewery in Mary Street, later to become Cherry's Brewery and now part of Diageo! I used to live in Mary Street from early 50s to mid 60s!"
ofarrl contributed this 1926 Pathé Newsreel footage of a wonderfully behatted crowd being addressed by Captain W.A. Redmond at Ballybricken Green.

I gave mustardandsage a fancy manicure today. I did a three color ombré and added gold sparkles to the ring finger. Hopefully it holds up!
The original pano failed to merge, so I lazily overlapped the individual photos with some magic. Liked the outcome anyway.
Who cares what colour the umbrella, if your mate is prepared to shelter you from the sleet that was falling around the Banovici narrow gauge railway workshops. Bosnia. February 2015.
