Fall Creek Gorge is one of the most scenic areas in west central Indiana with its steep walled canyons, tumbling waters, and potholes — large, circular openings in the sandrock that form the bed of the canyon — providing a picturesque home for unusual flora and thriving fauna.

Falling cup of espresso. Increased contrast, mattened background.

The idea was to drop the cup from half a meter of height into a bucket of water with a towel on top - to dampen the fall and take care of the mess. (I had the camera on a tripod with an external flash, next to the bucket.) Two things were problematic; timing the manual trigger and getting the liquid in an interesting motion. The first problem was solved by dropping cups of water until I had a feel for when to shoot. I soon found out that I had to give the cup a rotating motion to solve the other - so I basically flipped the whole thing like a coin. Which of course made hitting the bucket a little more difficult... :-/

I went out to take Fall pictures and came home with a bunch of close ups of leaves. You would never know that I was in the middle of the woods, surrounded by meadows, and had Lucy with me as the main subject. Nope. I came home with close ups of leaves - at least it had just rained so the leaves had drops on them.

Two more leaf pictures in the comments after my mom's. I asked my mom for her feedback before posting the picture and then delayed making it public for almost 24 hours. Read her feedback and you'll see why I didn't want to delete it before adding the other photos.

Thank you all for your comments and faves!

It was a beautiful Columbus Day Holiday at River Bend Farm in Uxbridge, MA Colors exploding everywhere.

Fall colors are funny. They’re so bright and intense and beautiful. It’s like nature is trying to fill you up with color, to saturate you so you can stockpile it before winter turns everything muted and dreary.

Forlorn by the Fall,.. and Winter is right around the corner,.. the most "dreadest" time of the year for me,..compounded by chy-na's "thoughtful" gift of the COVID-19 bio-weapon-virus-from-Hell they CREATED and unleashed upon us this year,..and every year to come it seems, because this shit's NOT going away anytime soon, ..between the idiots who to this day refuse to observe social distancing and mask wearing, and the drunken college party animals, who insist "C'mon man, its just a cold"..its going to keep spreading and mutating until everyone on this now-fucked-up-planet gets it.. or worse yet,..DIES from it..

oh well,.. I'm disgusted..

thanx china,. see you in HELL..

It is cheating a little to include this shot in my Around Town set, since it isn't actually taken in Cambridge but in Kitchener, however the actual site is only about 5KMs from the Kitchener/Cambridge border.

Autumn, also known as fall in North American English,[1] is one of the four temperate seasons. Outside the tropics, autumn marks the transition from summer to winter, in September (Northern Hemisphere) or March (Southern Hemisphere), when the duration of daylight becomes noticeably shorter and the temperature cools considerably. Day length decreases and night length increases as the season progresses, until the Winter Solstice in December (Northern Hemisphere) and June (Southern Hemisphere). One of its main features in temperate climates is the shedding of leaves from deciduous trees.

Falling Springs Falls, near Covington VA were really flowing when I came back from a trip to WV.

You're beautiful, that's for sure, even as you fade.

Up trip....wow what a great place!!!

Golden fall park well into the season

This one was so tame I could have brought it home for a pet! It posed nicely for me near these Asters, but I also photographed it near some yellow flowers as well.

This was taken yesterday afternoon ...not with the Sigma DG 150-500mm, but the Nikon 18-200mm. The lens was set at 62 mm, so it was pretty much in my face!

To better appreciate what I saw, View On Black. I also keep my laptop screen set at 125% magnification so that the View On Black photo pretty nearly fills the screen.
