Old Faithful, located in Wyoming's Yellowstone National Park, what a sight to see and capture.
Located at an elevation of 2,240m, the Old Faithful Geyser is one of the most well-known geysers in the world as well as in North America. The spectacular fountain-like columns of steam and boiling waters ejected from the Old Faithful Geyser vary in height from 32 to 56m, with the average height being 44m.
One of our two Australian Shepherds: Dexter. He´s such a good soul and this picture shows it perfectly for me.
Photo taken at Yellowstone National Park. The mathematical average between eruptions of Old Faithful is currently 74 minutes, but it doesn't like to act average! Intervals can range from 60-110 minutes. Old Faithful can vary in height from 100-180 feet with an average near 130-140 feet. This has been the historical range of its recorded height. Eruptions normally last between 1.5 to 5 minutes. Information source: yellowstonepark.com.
A Faithful Dog Will Play With You
And Laugh With You -Or Cry-
He'll Gladly Starve To Stay With You
Nor Ever Reason Why,
And When You're Feeling Out Of Sorts
Somehow He'll Understand
He'll Watch You With His Shining Eyes
And Try To Lick Your Hand.
His Blind, Implicit Faith In You
Is Matched By His Great Love -
The Kind That All Of Us Should Have
In The Master, Up Above.
When Everything Is Said And Done
I Guess This Isn't Odd
For When You Spell "Dog" Backwards
You Get The Name Of God.

The most famous geyser in Yellowstone, is a highly predictable geothermal feature; since 2000, it has erupted every 44 to 125 minutes.Eruptions can shoot 3,700 to 8,400 US gallons (14,000 to 32,000 L) of boiling water to a height of 106 to 185 feet (32 to 56 m) lasting from 1 1⁄2 to 5 minutes.
My husband and I had breakfast every morning at the little Deli at the Old Faithful Lodge, where a ceiling to floor window overlooked Old Faithful. . Every morning about 7 ish , Old Faithful would not disappoint.. It is so named because it is the most "regular" geyser. I don't really have anything or person to show prespective.. But it reaches 106-184 Ft. , expels 3,700-8,400 gallons of boiling water , about every 90 minutes. It is very interesting and fascinating !!

This photo was taken of Old Faithful at the Yellowstone National State Park in Wyoming. There are a lot of images of Old Faithful in full eruption. I decided to upload just the opposite. Here is an image of Old Faithful just beginning to erupt.

We will be returning to Yellowstone in 2026. I want to do a better job shooting geysers. So, I have dubbed the fountain at Applewood as "New Faithful", part of my geyser practice. It's not quite what good old mother earth, literally, produces, but it is a pretty little fountain that has several patterns.
Old Faithful Geyser is a highly predictable geothermal feature in Yellowstone National Park in USA. It had erupted every 90 minutes when we were there in Feb. this year. During the day, you can see the predicted eruption time at hotel front desk. But at night, we had to calculate it by ourselves based on the last reported eruption time. Luckily, it was so faithful and we didn't have wait too long to see it.
New Brighton lighthouse is no longer in use, but it is still a welcome landmark on the Mersey estuary.
Woven cap badge of the Royal Army Medical Corps (British Army). This is used by ranks (Other than Officers) in tactical dress. The red of the backing is one of the 3 corps colours (cherry red, royal blue and old gold). This woven badge was introduced in the 1980's.
The size of this image is 2 inches wide by 2.5 inches high,
it is best enlarged to see the stitches of the woven emblem.

I put this image up because I loved the sun effect created by the camera.
On the day we visited the geyser, the next eruption was predicted to erupt at 12 noon. We positioned ourselves in the best place to take photographs and waited. Sure enough the geyser erupted at almost exactly twelve noon. I put up two images to show the difference in the eruption within a matter of a few seconds.
From Wikipedia -
Old Faithful is a cone geyser located in Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, United States. Old Faithful was named in 1870 during the Washburn-Langford-Doane Expedition and was the first geyser in the park to receive a name. It is a highly predictable geothermal feature; since 2000, it has erupted every 44 to 125 minutes.
More than 1,000,000 eruptions have been recorded. Harry Woodward first described a mathematical relationship between the duration and intervals of the eruptions in 1938. Old Faithful is not the tallest or largest geyser in the park; those titles belong to the less predictable Steamboat Geyser. The reliability of Old Faithful can be attributed to the fact that it is not connected to any other thermal features of the Upper Geyser Basin.
Eruptions can shoot 3,700 to 8,400 US gallons (14,000 to 32,000 L) of boiling water to a height of 106 to 185 feet (32 to 56 m) lasting from 1 1⁄2 to 5 minutes. The average height of an eruption is 145 feet (44 m). Intervals between eruptions can range from 35 to 120 minutes, averaging 66.5 minutes in 1939, slowly increasing to an average of 90 minutes apart today, which may be the result of earthquakes affecting subterranean water levels. The disruptions have made earlier mathematical relationships inaccurate, but have actually made Old Faithful more predictable in terms of its next eruption.
