I finished the wings a few days ago so I wanted to photograph her outside. Brr, it was so cold! My poor hands! :<
Now that she's all painted I sort of feel meh about her, she's done and as usual with dolls that are finished I'm not sure I want to keep her anymore. It's not that I don't like her, it's just that she's finished and I want to move on to other projects. Hmm...we'll have to see for how long she stays :)
I'm going to name her Lana for now though. I think it suits her ^w^

Okay, excuse me, this is going to be a ramble as per usual as I have a ton of things I want to talk about both relating and not relating to this lovely little lady right here but i'll space it out over my next few posts so as to not melt your brain staring at one monumental textwall.
OKAY SO. PETRA. OMG. HNNNG. I CAN'T-
So for those of you who keep up with the recent roller-coaster that is my doll journey you'll know that i've talked about shelling my character Petra as a doll for literally years and finally I found the perfect opportunity to go for it and get her with the release of Fairyland Momo. It was kind of up in the air in the beginning whether or not i'd be able to grab Momo while I could but thankfully everything worked out and I was able to get her. Of course, the main reason why I wanted to do so was because I thought the bunny body would be the absolute perfect way of portraying her character in doll form that I previously didn't think would have been possible. For a long time I had resigned myself to just getting her on a regular human body because I didn't think something like this would be possible but OF COURSE, just like with Euclid's perfectly amazing seahorse tail Fairyland is able to read my mind and just know exactly what types of fantasy parts I've wanted for my characters and exactly how to execute them. I'll get into why that is in a bit where I copy/pasta a novel about some of Petra's character but for now let me just say that I LOVE IT SO MUCH and my gosh I am so glad that I was able to get it for her. I know that you can't see her bunny legs in this picture but they actually aren't what I wanted to focus on the most for now. I'll show them off and ramble on about her character/backstory in the future once she is more put together but for now I mainly just want to focus on one thing in particular; THAT SHE IS A MINIFEE ANTE.
Yeah so if you've been keeping up with me for a while you may remember that I had stated numerous times that my plan for Petra was for her to be a Minifee Mio but, well, this happened. Its funny, the moment I first saw Minifee Mio I immediately said "that is Petra" with so much certainty that for the longest time I honestly couldn't imagine her as anything else. Minifee Ante on the other hand was always a sculpt that I was deeply enamored with since I first laid eyes on it but for whatever reason I couldn't see it as anything other than a boy but I didn't have any male characters from my main stories that would suit it and over time it became this ultimate grail for me that I thought i'd never own because I just didn't have the character for it. Well as I mentioned i've been wanting to shell Petra as a doll for years now and at some point I got to looking more and more at Ante as a possible alternative to Mio for Petra. There are things that are more canonically accurate about Mio for Petra, namely the size/shape of her eyes, but the more time went by the more I started to go back and forth between which one was really "right" for her. Eventually I decided upon Mio almost entirely because I knew from her promo photos that she looks great with little angry eyebrows as silly as that sounds, but I think her faceup really was what completely sold me on Mio for her despite being very different than what I would want for Petra. But Ante just kept creeping back into my thoughts especially once I had actually committed to ordering Momo for her bunny body, I just couldn't shake the idea that Ante really has just the perfect little bunny face and captures the cute juvenile look of Petra while still having this air of seriousness. Admittedly Mio gives the same feeling to me but I don't think the sculpt screams "bunny" in the same way that Ante does.
Anyway, I was still debating what I should choose until the very end but eventually my final decision to go with Ante for her came about from being completely unable to find a tan Mio head. xD I'm a believer in fate and that things present themselves the way they do for a reason and being completely unable to get a hold of a Mio head I interpreted as the universe's way of telling me that it just wasn't meant to be. Just when I started to get kind of depressed over it just so happened to come across a pair of tan OE and SP Ante heads and again my mind was flooded with the idea that Ante was in fact the right choice for her.
In thinking about it more heavily I came to realize that while Mio's giant eyes are more canonically accurate, I have to remember that what works in my silly animu drawings don't always translate or work as well as dolls. Faustus and Euclid are incredibly important to Petra and of course i'm insanely picky when it comes to how my really specific character dolls look together so I realized that Mio's giant eyes would probably look way too different and not mesh well with Faustus and Euclid's smaller, more sultry eyes. I learned early on that when translating my characters as dolls its impossible to get them to look EXACTLY like them because of basic stylistic differences and instead to mainly focusing on choosing a sculpt that best captures the "essence" of that character. Like, for example, Euclid's canonical nose looks absolutely nothing like Minifee Luka's nose, but everything else about that sculpt so perfectly evokes Euclid for me that I hardly even notice or think about it, you know? The same is true for me with Petra and Minifee Ante. There are a few characteristics of this sculpt that aren't exactly true of Petra canonically but it still so perfectly captures the FEEL of her character and in a way that also compliments the other important characters in her story. Also the idea of her having a sleeping head really piqued my interest as I've never owned one and they've always interested me but never really had a great excuse to justify getting one, but in thinking about it more, Petra is a character who typically appears outwardly very cold, emotionless and unyielding but a very important part of her character is her journey through very deep emotional and artistic turmoil and I LOVE the idea of using her sleeping head to show a deeply agonized, mournful and ultimately vulnerable side of her that while rarely seen by others is the perfect way of articulating the vital contrasting dynamic of her character.
So yes, in thinking about her in relation to my other dolls and the way that I wanted to portray her character as a doll it became so clear to me that Ante was the right way to go so I took the plunge and went for it and...
;O; I love it.
It was a really strange surreal feeling to own an Ante after having it in my head for so long that i'd never justify being able to own one but it also thoroughly baffled me in a way that I honestly haven't had happen before. Like, my first impression of the sculpt was that this is somehow simultaneously the most bizarre and unrealistic looking sculpt but also gave me the greatest "feeling" of realness and like the sculpt had an air of "life" to it more than any other sculpt i've come across. Idk its hard to explain and probably makes no sense but yeah, it was a strange mix of "wtf am I looking at" and "omg you feel like a real person to me". I've never had that experience before so I was really taken aback by it. It was honestly so confusing that even though I was super busy and shouldn't have been doing so I immediately had to do a suuuuuper quick faceup on her to attempt and sort out my feelings about this sculpt. Seriously, this faceup is legit terrible as it was just an experiment done in a few hours and I feel kind of embarrassed even posting it but ...somehow I still really like it? Like i'll DEFINITELY be making changes when I get the chance to do it properly but I really wanted to test out a few ideas with her eyes specifically since they are extremely important to portraying her character and it actually kind of works. Still needs a lot of fiddling but like I said, this sculpt just captures the "essence" of Petra even with a rushed and imperfect faceup. This sculpt may thoroughly confuse me, but nevertheless it captures Petra bizarrely even better than I could have anticipated. I even really love the way she looks with Faustus and Euclid so far too! She is sooooo far off from being "complete" right now, but still I am loving everything about her~
xD Ack, yeah sorry I figured i'd ramble about this for ages sorry but its crazy how this ended up becoming a thing but i'm really glad that it did and am so ridiculously excited to FINALLY have Petra as a doll and work on her in the future as she going to be a fun, unique and challenging project that i'm positive you guys are going to really love~
I've had so many things on my plate and have kind of been in the midst of both a creative and life-based chaos for a while now but i'm doing my best to sort things out as I can and when things get too crazy take a bit of time for myself and focus a little on my dolls. Over the last month or so I was making a few things for Petra here here and there like the outfit she is wearing and her bunny ears (which you can't really see either but asdfghjkl they aren't finished/painted yet so-) and when she arrived I took a little time to make her wig and do this really quick faceup just to get a feel for her as this sculpt as it baffled me so much initially. Its not much and I still have to mod her ears, finish her bunny ears and tail, do a new faceup, mod her body, make her unicorn horn, make her hammer, get proper eyes asdfghjkl SO MANY THINGS but i'm just really glad to have her home and share what little progress I've made on her~
I'll share with and talk more about some of the individual things i've made for her here later on as well as more about her character but here is just a little hello to her for now. Ah, seriously SO excited to share her with everyone more once she really starts coming together ;w;
Anyway, I'm going to talk more about my Feeple60 Cygne, IbbI, here soonish and probably some more overall updates for me in the hobby soon as well.

Okay soooo...I'm thinking about doing something stupid and ordering a fairyline centaur from DDE...but I'd really like to find a swap partner so I can exchange the tail, wings, hooves, (and possibly the upper fur part) for that of a different resin color. I'm open to any of these combinations. I JUST decided I need this body for a head I'm customizing and I'm still working out her look at this point. ><

With all this new mermaid minifee hype, I thought I should actually get out my Sia tail and play with it for once. I like Lucywen as a fish girl, her other elf head works better for the centaur body anyway. I can't decide if I should go for the new minifee or not, the mermaid tails are a little hard to pose. 😥
My first minifee arrived - fullset Lucywen in NS/Mint! Here's her body - the centaur body is incredibly impressive and articulate, and the mint color is gorgeous.

xD Haha, yeah, I was cleaning my room and organizing my dolly things today and when I opened the box that has my floating heads I was just so happy to see Rift that I had to dress her up and take some more photos. She's still so unfinished and a huge WIP that isn't at the forefront of my main thoughts/dolly plans, but gosh I do love having her around! xD Of course, she's stealing Eui's Fairyline body (since I only have one white skin minifee body at the moment) so when I have her all put together that means I can't have Eui out too which is a bummer but I'm finally at the point where I don't mind swapping them around as much and it isn't nearly as painful not having Eui around 24/7.
;w; Anyways, swapped out her eyes for these simple green glass ones and while they are a bit simple for my tastes I do reaaaaally love the color in her! I don't know, they really just go so well with her color scheme, so methinks green will be her permanent eye color from now on. xD Which I'm alright with since while I do have a ton of OCs with green eyes, I only have one other doll with green eyes at the moment and they are a completely different shade so that's good. I hate having too many dolls/characters with very similar hair/eye colors because then its just boring and repetitive, you know? TwT Anyways, I also stuck one of two wigs I have left that aren't already being used by dolls (I got rid of most all of my synthetic and fur wigs in favor of my handmade alpaca ones) and it actually looks super cute on her! xD Its the default Unoa Sist wig. Even though I don't really like fur wigs usually and I have no use for it I can't bring myself to get rid of it since I like it so much. Glad Rift can get some use out of it until I can make her a proper wig in the future which will be an awesome pastel blue/pink/yellow ombre methinks.
TwT Like I said, she isn't at the forefront of my dolly plans so I don't think she'll be getting a body of her own or many things of her own besides the wig soon, but I am very happy to have her around and am excited to work on her more in the far off future once my main Unicorn and Egyptian characters are shelled or better fleshed out.
T3T Anyways, i've been still been having a rough time of things lately as OF COURSE some IRL things have come up out of nowhere to once again rain on my parade but i'm still alive and doing my best, taking things one day at a time.
Also pretty bummed that because there is a new doll that was released that I reaaaaaaaly would love to get but because of these IRL issues idk if that'll happen. Really crossing my fingers though!

;______; I was hardcore dying of excitement when I saw they were making Fairyline bunny parts because that would be PERFECT for my OC Petra, who is based of the Al-Mi'raj; the unicorn horned rabbit.

Canonically she has difficulty controlling her powers and similarly to how Euclid can transform their body to have more animal-like/fantasy features Petra can do the same, as all my Unicorn characters have the potential to do. Typically my unicorn characters, the Unitrios, do not transform themselves (either partially with kemonomimi features or in full beast forms) unless there is a strong purpose as it takes much more energy to maintain and is therefore not practical to do all the time. Its a sort of "right of passage" that all young Unitrios learn to control their energies and are able to transform themselves at will, once they are able to do so they are considered competent and mature enough to survive on their own. Petra, however, is different in that she was actually not raised by her own species and thus never knew about her powers or the potential she had until much later in life and subsequently has a much more difficult time controlling her powers. xD Well...its also very much her own fault since after discovering just who and what she is, she over-zealously tries to learn and master every aspect of what it means to be a Unitrios to make up for the time that was lost. She lived for many years believing that she was a frail and powerless one of a kind creature that must hide herself from the world so as to not be preyed upon by those who would certainly covet her majesty. After living a life of fear and powerlessness the realization that she has power enough to single-handedly build or destroy entire cities (xD Literally, her energy is that of earth and she can cause terrible earthquakes and fissures but she becomes a master architect/stonemason and can build entire cities by her self), she becomes a bit of a megalomaniac. Instead of building up and honing her powers gradually she tried to unleash it all at once before she was ready and becomes uncontrollable to the point that she can no longer temper her energy and revert back to her original "human-like" state. So canonically she is always partially transformed in the kemonomimi-like state with her bunny ears and tail always visible. Since she cannot properly control her energy, changes in her emotions, environment, or situation can cause her to further exude energy and become progressively more and more animalistic looking until she completely transforms into her origin form ("beast" form).

Anyway, In doll form I planned on her having her bunny ears and tail, but also having bunny legs for her too is PERFECT since she has so much difficulty controlling her energy and takes on a more animalistic appearance at all times.
Unlike with Euclid who has both human legs and their seahorse tail, I wouldn't really need both human and bunny legs for Petra since she's in her kemonomimi-like form at all times. Plus....Petra is kind of notorious for not wanting to wear clothes (she mostly hates to wear shirts and pants of any kind lol) soooo if she has those awesome bunny legs it'll look less awkward when she's not wearing clothes xD //shot.
;____; And like i'm dying because she was next on my list and I was hoping to order her in the next month or so but THIS IS SO PERFECT FOR HER ASDFGHJKL
Of course, she was going to be a tan skin Moe-line Mio but now with this happening I want her to be on the Fairyline bunny body in full tan (I think...maybe white so I could dye it idk) but still as the Mio sculpt. The only thing i'm kind of not sure about is that she'll be much taller with the Fairyline body and the bunny legs then I was thinking for her on the M-line body...but honestly i've been thinking canonically it might suit her better to be taller anyways so idk. ;___; It wouldn't even be that much more expensive to get her with the bunny legs AHHHH I'M DYING PLEASE HELP ASDFGHJKL
TAT Anyway, sorry for rambling, I'm just happy and sad and excited all at the same time since this is so perfect for her but I don't think i'll be able to get it ;_____; BUT I LOVE IT SO MUCH AND WANT HER SO BAD AND I JUST WANT TO SHARE MY GROSS DOLLY FEELINGS WITH OTHER DOLLY PEOPLE WHO FEEL MY PAIN SO FORGIVEMEEEEEEE

I am extremely humbled at this super amazing gift that I was given this year by my grandparents. I typically don't really get any gifts for the holidays and I don't expect my family to get me anything as I am quite distant and not much of a "family" type of person as it is anyways (i'm terrible at gifts so I don't typically give them either OTL), but I am so very humbled and thankful to have family who supports and encourages me and my art and offer to buy me such wonderful gifts though they have no obligation to do so.
I have been wanting to get an airbrush for a while now to broaden the scope of what I am able to accomplish with my faceups/blushing and couldn't be happier with this really high quality Iwata High Performance Plus airbrush and Sprint Jet compressor. I still need to get a few more pieces such as a MAC valve, quick release and maintenance products but i'm beyond excited to play with this when I get everything I need and have time to work on my own dolls! Provided that I can get the technique down, in the future i'll be able to offer more complex faceup and blushing services and/or switching to airbrush sealant for time and health reasons. ^U^ Just had to share this with you guys and hope you are excited to see some awesome airbrushing in the future! I already have plans to use Petra as my main test subject with it since she'll have some lighter colored blushing against her tan skin and an airbrush should be able to do that much better and faster than I ever could with just pastels.
xD But speaking of Petra, she is here because again, she's going to be my main test subject when I get around to playing with my airbrush but also because I planned on taking some photos of her adorable bunny feet for you guys too so i'm killing two birds with one stone really haha.
Also don't even ask about her clothing choices hahah she's literally wearing a barbie shirt and a YoSD cardigan haha xD
I haven't had the time to sew much for her yet and most of the clothes I have don't really suit her. Petra is actually really interesting when it comes to clothing because she is one of my only OCs who does not have an extremely specific color palette and super specific fashion style. Canonically she'd rather not wear clothes at all so when she has to she'll pretty much wear anything but her sense of style is....uh...not always on point. Especially in a modern interpretation of her character I imagine her totally wearing tiny denim shorts and badass leather jacket...but also cute sundresses way too big for her or something kind of random and geeky like this xD. Her canonically appropriate style is alsoa bit all over the place as she was raised by a human so she's used to wearing long farm-style dresses but among her own kind she has a rather steampunk style with lots of metal and stone accessories. But you know that whenever she is actually dressed well its entirely because Euclid picked/made her outfit xD //shot. So yeah, even though she's an artist her fashion sense is pretty terrible but she's really good at making accessories at least~
^U^ Oh! Also you can see the bunny ears I made for her a little better here. I feel like they need a bit more work but I do love them a lot more than the default Momo ones so i'm glad I decided to make them myself. Ack, so excited for when I finally get to work on my dolls especially for her. She's so incomplete right now but really loving her to bits and couldn't be happier with how my little conflicted quartet of Fausts, Euclid, Hyacinth and Petra are coming along ;w;
Annnnd because I haven't rambled enough already, i'll add some general updates here too.
Still working super hard to get commissions done and hoping that'll happen before February rolls around so I can devote most of February and maybe a bit of March to my own dolls. After that i'm going to be knee deep in commissions again as i'll be taking on large groups of dolls from a few different friends which i'm really excited about! Sadly though I don't anticipate being ready to accept any other commissions until around May/June at least but I have some insanely creative friends and I really couldn't be more excited to work on their amazing characters~
Of course, a lot is and has been changing for me in the dolly world and I've already explained a lot of it so I won't ramble about it here, but I did want to say that I have officially decided to go with my instincts and, at least for now, only handle one series/story per scale of doll. So for my MSD centered dolls i'll only be keeping/shelling my Unicorn characters and using that size for them with possibly only one exception. I am keeping River of course sine i'm too terribly attached to him as a doll but I still haven't quite figured out what role he could play in my Unitrios story as of yet. Its been extremely difficult for me to detach River's character to that doll as it always is for me in similar situations but i'm doing my best and desperately hoping this will be the one time it works out. That said, as hard as it is for me to do so I will be parting with Raum and also Rift to keep all my MSDs solely rooted in my Unitrios story. I may possibly reinterpret Rift's character and story into a different size/type of doll in the future if I am ever wanting another "fun" project, but for now i'm going to just be focusing on my Unicorn characters in MSD and my fun, purely creative artistic side project in SD as I feel this is the best balance for me to have both structure and "fun" without becoming too overwhelmed.
^//u//^ But I am extremely excited for and inspired by my SD plans, maybe the most excited i've been since I first got into the hobby and started really looking into shelling my Unicorn characters as dolls, so really, with my Unicorn characters coming along so wonderfully now and having this new exciting project and getting this amazing new airbrush I really couldn't be happier in the hobby right now despite lots of changes and goodbyes happening. I'm hesitant to share my concepts/plans for my SD project as there is still the chance that I may not even like SDs once I get one, but for sure once my Cygne gets here and I decide I love them i'll tell you all about it xD. I have decided that Cygne will be a part of my artsy SD project to remain both size and project specific and i'm really in love with the direction i'm going for them. xD I swear, they are really just the most inspiring chameleon of a doll for me. I could imagine them as so many different things and love them all the same haha~
So, for anyone keeping track since I know a ton has changed over the last half of last year up until now, the dolls I have/am keeping are Faustus (Soom Shale), Euclid (Fairyland MNF Luka), Hyacinth (IOS CO), Petra (Fairyland MNF Ante), Zephyrus (Aileendoll Lapis), SIO2 Ragdoll (currently unnamed, WHO FINALLY ARRIVED AND IS THE EPITOME OF CUTENESS BY THE WAY ASDFGHJKL), Voiceless (F60M Cygne)....and one surprise floating head i'll talk about some other time xD.
May or may not be keeping my DIM Annabeth boy when he arrives, we'll see if he fits into my Unicorn character's story~
Ack, okay, sorry for dumping my plans and excitement on all of you (as usual) and i'll get to replying to older comments I haven't gotten around to yet soon, but thanks so much as always for listening to me ramble and being continually interested in me and my creativity, Its to very flattering and I appreciate it more than I could ever put into words (and even if I take forever to reply to comments OTL)

Petra (girl) is a Fairyland Minifee Ante on a Fairyline bunny body in Tan skin. Faceup, wig, ears, dress, apron and most props by me.
Dragon on the new Fairyline body from Fairyland. The idea here is that this is here dragon tail. Dragon has started to get back some of her powers and realizes that she can transform partially into dragon form. My hope is to pain her tail more lime, teal, purple and gold, similar to her arm fins. I'm just a bit intimidated by the project so I haven't done it yet.
