I didn't notice when we bought them, but now every time I see these, I think of the twitter fail whale.
aren't they beautiful? our friends clayton and kendra, from fail better farm, brought them when they visited for our wedding. four of them ended up in some pretty kickass banana bread today.

Probably what happened is the trail crew made the cut then the upper portion of the log slid down and trapped the cut for all of eternity and the trail crew said "the heck with this" and gave up.

BACKSTORY: Hangout at our place: 7 people: Clint & Carolyn, Jesse, Matthew, Mike T, Evan, Brianna. Mike T had the most lopsided combat (38 to 1) in all of our 73-game Munchkin history. Clint kicked ass like no one's ever seen at Cards Against Humanity (scores:5,1,0,0,0,0). Brianna drew over all of our flaws with sharpies, wrestled with Jesse. Evan crashed, hung out a bit in the morning afterward watching broadcast TV (with music). Mike woke up with his pants missing. It was awkward & hilarious. Thankfully the lighting level was low.

Northern Lights (FAIL)
Decided to chance our luck with the recent amazing photos that have appeared of the northern lights from Scotland. Sadly we only saw a couple a flashes of it in the night sky!
Template on left is a Freaky Friend- like a beanie buddy or whatever, with a Radiohead Bear evil twist. Eyes = buttons, mouth = stitches. On right is my 11th hour attempt at sewing the real thing. Despite kind twitter humour & encouragement, I still failed. I do hope the kids can do a better job tomorrow at my School Holiday Activity. I certainly nailed the Freaky bit...
Every year lots of people believe that the turn of the year is a good starting point to improve their life. Frequently heard 'New Year's Resolutions' are to lose weight, drink less alcohol, get a better job and of course quit smoking. Especially that last one is hard to persevere. Now we are nine days into the new year I think a lot of people already have failed (again) to quit smoking.
Note that I don't smoke myself and never did. I find it a disguisting habit. Everyone that is trying to quit, good luck! Life is so much better without smoking!
