Stripped of its outer skin, this old edifice stands in the Outer Sunset neighborhood of San Francisco. I swung by tonight after sunset hoping the fading light would give it nice color. It did, but I failed to calculate in the security lights that were glaring off to the right - out of the frame.
This style and size building is an anomaly in the Outer Sunset! I didn't know this was there until I biked by it a few months ago, and it brought me up short. Such character! It looks like it's been flayed or like a Bavarian lodge.
I assume it's an old school that the SFUSD is deciding what to do with, but I'm not sure. More research is in order! There are stories waiting to be told.

Just a photo to show my readers it took a few tries before I got the hang of this 8). Story and recipe on my blog.
So, FGR today asked those of us who are failures as photographers to participate. I'm surprised I wasn't elected president of the club.
For one thing, I am in the midst of experiencing the lamest of tropical storms, Edouard. To start with, what is up with the spelling? Lame. Then Eddie took a hard right last night, and has missed Houston. This, after Jamie's office decided to close for the morning. Thus, I am working from home until the afternoon.
I went outside to showcase the failure that is Eduoard, but couldn't get the wireless trigger to work. How about turning it on? Then, when I did turn it on, it began to rain. Fail.
Might as well show the wireless at this point, eh? Weak.
At least I'm cute, right? Ha.

One app I have on my phone takes two pictures and mashes them up for an HDR-ish look. This is what a failed version looks like - I moved the phone during the second photo. Still, turned out really cool looking!

The Hunterston flask ran a couple of days earlier this week than it has of late.
Not a problem for me as I found out early enough to be able to phot' it after work.
However, a delayed shift finish followed by heavy traffic meant that I arrived at Harrington for my planned shot only minutes before the train.
The road that I intended to use to get to my location was blocked by a lorry so I had to make a last minute change and decided that this shot was my only plan option in the time available.
Unfortunately the train is somewhat lost in the surroundings as it crosses Harrington viaduct behind Nos.37419 & 37612 and there's a bit too much glint.
Oh well, I'll try my original plan another time.
This is what we do on a Saturday night.
9ft of burning rope, dry ice, road flares, 3 flashes, no arrests, no major skin trauma.
It was fun but the pictures not very good.

Otra foto fallida. El láser me falló así que dí la foto por perdida en la mitad de su ejecución. En vez de improvisar y seguir por si acasodejé el láser con rumbo perdido dejando esas trazas escapadas. Resultó que la esfera es de las más perfectas que hice nunca, y posiblemente hubiera podido salvar la foto. Aún así, tiene algo que me gusta.
Another fail shot. My laser failed during the execution. Insted of trying to improvise, I gave up and let the laser paint those random lights. The fact is that the orb is one of the most perfect orbs I've done, and maybe I could have saved the photo. But there is something in it that makes me like it anyway.

A bottle of Lia Fail from The Inveralmond Brewery in Perth, Scotland, at Internasjonalen pub in Oslo.
According to the bottle this is a 4,7% abv Scottish Dark Beer. It poured a golden brown color with a fine white head. The aroma was of roasted malt, the mouthfeel was decent to be such a low-alcohol beer. The taste was dominated by the roasted malt with some sweetness, but the bitterness wins out in the aftertaste. Not a very complex beer but easy to drink.

Rolleiflex SL26 camera
Fakmatic 35mm to 126 Adapter / Eastman Hi-Con 2369
The task was to see if I could get the Fakmatic adapter to work in the Rollei SL26. Mission accomplised by clipping a sprocket to make a larger rectangular sprocket so that the camera would sense it and reset the shutter. It worked...but I grossly fogged the film by thinking it was orthochromatic and loading it with a red safety light! Back to the drawing board!
