At Huntington's Point, near Hall's Harbour on the Bay of Fundy, there are two [more?] curious cottages made of cement and stone. These were built by a local man, Charles MacDonald. He also built a stone house which is now a museum in his honour. All are delightful fun.
I will go back for clearer shots when I can, but for now it just felt right to add a bit of quirky cheer.
It was hard to get a shot with the sun setting on all those colours and textures, but it will do for now.

I love that MacDonald used the building of these cottages to keep his men employed during the Great Depression, and that he designed the cottages as they were being built. The cottage in my photo belonged to a late teacher of mine.

The Peatbog Faeries play The Old Fire Station, Carlisle, Cumbria
The Peatbog Faeries are a largely instrumental Celtic fusion band. Formed in 1991, they are based in Dunvegan on the Isle of Skye, Scotland.
Their music embodies many styles and influences, including folk, electronica, rock and jazz, - but their main influence is traditional celtic music. The band's unique sound is created through a mix of programmed effects and traditional celtic arrangements, played on bagpipes, fiddles, and whistles.
The band have twice won "Live Band of the Year" at the Scottish Traditional Music Awards and were nominated for "Live Band of the Year" at the BBC Radio 2 folk awards.
I'm really into these kind of shots that seem to be during the gloaming hours with the little lights. Too bad Julia & I got poison oak from this shoot! (It took me about a month to finally edit this).
Anyone else agree that Uptown Girls is a really lovely girl movie? It's just so sweet and honest and relatable, despite the "poor-rich-girl" aspect (almost like a Sofia Coppola film...).

The toy camera clicks through four pictures of tourist destinations, including a BC Ferries ship. There is a red felted devil doll laying behind with a sword through its heart. Sewed onto its face is a fabric photo of yours truly. The Faerie doll is a gift from my daughter, the red devil is from my partner. They are placed on the top ledge of the bookcase beside my desk.
I posted a very similar photo in black and white ages ago and after about 3 months decided I liked the colour version better.

The Sunday night finale at the Cambridge Folk Festival was the Peatbog Faeries, who rocked the crowd. Crap shot I know, but what the hey ;-)
Taken during a weekend meetup with Thomas Hawk in my hometown of Houston.
Thomas Hawk and I stopped by for lunch in Niko Niko's, a fantastic little Greek restaurant in the Neartown district of Houston. Afterwards, we stopped by The Magick Cauldron, Houston's self-proclaimed "premier Pagan religious supplier". We didn't stay long as "these kind of places creep [TH] out".
