A visit to a jade factory/sales room, featuring lovely examples of jade jewelry & carvings.

taken during Open House Chicago 2017 through the Chicago Architecture Foundation tours - we were lucky enough to also learn about the history of this building and the potential future use from the current owner - while it's obviously not a bread factory at the moment, it's also not exactly abandoned. They're looking into converting it to a data center, using some of the existing architectural features (such as heat issues) to serve a more modern purpose.

This photo was taken in 2007 at the carpet factory in Qairaqum, Tajikistan. The students are those who participated in the first Critical Language Scholarship program for Persian. We traveled to Khojand at the end of the program. In the center fo the photo sits Mr. Bahador Azimov, the director fo the factory at that time.
