TVA's Cumberland Fossil Plant
Cumberland Fossil Plant is located northwest of Nashville on the shores of Barkley Reservoir on the Cumberland River. It produces more power than any other plant in the TVA system. In fiscal year 2004, its two generating units turned out over 18.5 million megawatt-hours, more than any other TVA fossil or nuclear plant. That represented almost 12 percent of TVA's total generation for the year.
It has one of the tallest chimneys in the world at 1,001 feet (305 m), built in 1970.

Shopping at the Citadel about 3/4 of the way between our place and L.A. Pretty good pricing. I bought some Levis for $24.
The people at Impossible Project held a open house and I was invited to join the tour of the factory. The place once employed 1200 people at the hight of the Polaroid days. Now just 36 people are the Impossible Project. All of them passionate, dedicated and giving their all to keep us Polaroid camera users happy with film. Daunting task and after the visit I have nothing but respect for people achieving the impossible.

A factory that, I assume, used to deal with textiles given the debris around. Believe it or believe it not, there sits a tranquil park with a lake not more than 100 yards from here.
the remains of DuPont Powderwork's TNT factory. Wedged between a 300 foot ravine and a golf course and there is NO trail leading to the TNT factory. i spent an hour trail-slashing through thick thick brush and anyone who wants to see it will have to do the same. There was no graffiti, no garbage, or signs of vandalism on historical ruins which very very rare these days, meaning only a handful of people have been there in the last 30 years.
