Whatever one may think of the loss of local industry since this picture of factory chimneys was taken, there seems little doubt that the quality of the air in Arbroath has improved beyond measure, and the residents' health as a result.

The Weiner Factory at 14917 Ventura Blvd in Sherman Oaks 91403. In business since the 1970's, closed this past new years to make way for a Pinkberry. Was gong to be turn down shortly after its closure but the building is still there boarded up. To see what it looked like while it was open, check out this photo taken by another Flickr user at:

I went to see the Smurfs exhibition this morning in the Children's Cultural Centre. That, and lots of museums are situated in an old FInlayson factory area. No textile industry in Tampere anymore... Restaurants, cafes, shops, and museums rule the area.
The employees of this factory were all wearing the "Monday- yellow for the day of the week the King was born" shirts that EVERYONE wore every monday. I asked them if I could take their picture in the shirts and they all said yes, but then wouldn't come out from behind their desks and tables. Go figure.
