The Central Business District in Houston, Texas, USA.
Prior to the arrival of the Streetcar in Houston in the 1870, the area that is now the Central District of the city was the main residential area of the city.
While generally focused on the most prosperous areas of town, the Houston City Street Railway extended one line a full mile south of the centre of the city, making it the first streetcar network designed to spur residential development.
By the 1890s, new, larger local streetcar companies finally accumulated the capital necessary to begin constructing streetcar suburbs beyond the conventional boundaries of the city.
This led to the development and rapid growth of areas like the Houston Heights and Montrose Residential development subsequently moved out of the central business district; Quality Hill previously being Houston's first upscale neighbourhood was left virtually abandoned by the turn of the 20th century.
This spurred the redevelopment of the district into becoming the home to nine Fortune 500 corporations, 3,500 businesses, and approximately 150,000 workers. Major employers include Chevron, JPMorgan Chase, and United Airlines. It contains between 35% and 40% of the Class A office locations of the overall business districts in Houston

Last week Barack Obama launched a new web site Fight the Smears to be able to respond to false attacks and politically-motivated slurs. It reminds of FactCheck.org which is a non-partisan site run by the Annenberg Foundation. In the old days, someone could start a rumor or make a claim and it was very difficult to combat it. Once it made it onto the airways, where media and communication was in the hands of a very few, one bad story could make or break a person.Not anymore. Bloggers and journalists alike can put forth their own view of the "facts" and more than ever we can choose whom to believe and support. The Obama campaign is in an uproar about photos being circulated by Clinton Staffers. The photos show Obama dressed in a traditional Muslim Elder from Somalia. The irony is that the more the mainstream press keeps the 'Muslim' rumors just below the waterline the more people think there is something to them. I myself assumed that Obama must have been a 'reformed' Muslim, attending a Christian church just for show. I got tired of the 'elephant in the room' and decided to do a little digging of my own. I won't vote for Obama for one simple reason: his tax policy. It doesn't have anything to do with his religion. But for those of you who were wondering:
Here are the facts: Obama moved from Hawaii to Indonesia when he was six and attended a Madrasah (?????) in Jakarta until he was ten. The curriculum was generally secular according to 60 Minutes. His biological father (a Kenyan national) was a Muslim, but was a confirmed atheist and his stepfather (an Indonesian national) was also Muslim, but according to Obama he was "a man who saw religion as not particularly useful." His experience in Indonesia seemed to be the most positive part of his life.
Obama wrote in his best selling book, that when he returned to the United States he began using alcohol, marijuana and cocaine to "push questions of who I was out of my mind." In 1988 Obama joined the Trinity United Church of Christ, the largest congregation in the United Church of Christ (Oprah attends). Obama denies that he has ever been a Muslim, suggesting that he is a committed Christian.

It's the president's birthday! And what better way to celebrate than to give the birther movement even more media attention. Of course, we don't really know that Obama was born on August 4th, because he refuses to show his birth certificate to anyone but factcheck.org and dozens of other politicians and reporters. The scoundrel! We thought to celebrate Barack's big day, we'd show you how the birthers are celebrating. First comes Sean Kelly, an award-winning illustrator for the "New York Times" and the "Washington Post." He has created a card for the President from our favorite conspiracy theorists.

I think this bird is a crane, but I have done no factchecking. I need to rescan the original image at a much higher resolution and do this crop again.
An episode on "The Future of Play" that could have spent a few more dollars and timeto do some factchecking and confirmation. Still, it's cool when Area/Code is on TV.

These days a picture is going quite viral on social media. The picture is being claimed that in the Naxalite attack in Gadchiroli, Maharashtra, the government of Modi has been mistreated with the dead bodies of martyrs. The bodies can be seen wrapped in the card board.

Next Tuesday, I will testify before the House Intelligence Committee in its ongoing investigation into whether Donald Trump, his family, campaign or associates colluded with the Russian government to influence the outcome of the 2016 election.
I am testifying voluntarily and have not requested or received a grant of immunity. I have been eager to do so since several members of the committee made allegations in public session that I had advance notice of either the hacking of Hillary Clinton campaign Chairman John Podesta’s emails or of the content of material published by WikiLeaks that proved embarrassing to the Clinton campaign. FactCheck.org, a non-partisan news organization, reported that those allegations are not established by the record.
The torrent of leaks and allegations from our intelligence agencies on the question of Russian collusion demonstrates the extent to which these agencies have been politicized. Repetition of the mantra that “the Russians colluded with the Trump campaign” does not make it true.
The New York Times reported in January that intelligence agencies are examining emails, records of financial transactions and intercepted communications as part of an investigation into possible links between Russian officials and former Trump associates, including me.The Times, the Senate and House intelligence committees and our intelligence services have yet to make public any incriminating materials for a simple reason: They do not exist.
In addition, the reported meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and a Russian attorney who claimed to have documentation of malfeasance by Hillary Clinton was neither improper nor illegal.
I believe that the entire allegation of Russian collusion with the Trump campaign is the brainchild of Clinton operative John Podesta, most likely to distract from the lucrative business contracts that he and his brother enjoyed with the oligarchs around Vladimir Putin. In short, the claim of Russian collusion with Trump is a politically motivated fairy tale.
