This picture amuses me up to no end. Let me tell you, though, it is way too hot here in sunny Florida to be wearing this crazy getup outside. As luck would have it, my neighbor was just getting into her above ground pool and saw me through the fence as I was setting up the tripod wearing my robe. She probably thinks I am crazy. Oh well. I think this has inspired me to read the rest of the trilogy. I think I've only finished 2 or 3 of the 5 books (yes, there are 5 books in his trilogy because he was fun that way).

Why a towel to honor this great writer? To quote from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
A towel, it says, is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitch hiker can have. Partly it has great practical value - you can wrap it around you for warmth as you bound across the cold moons of Jaglan Beta; you can lie on it on the brilliant marble-sanded beaches of Santraginus V, inhaling the heady sea vapours; you can sleep under it beneath the stars which shine so redly on the desert world of Kakrafoon; use it to sail a mini raft down the slow heavy river Moth; wet it for use in hand-to-hand-combat; wrap it round your head to ward off noxious fumes or to avoid the gaze of the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal (a mindboggingly stupid animal, it assumes that if you can't see it, it can't see you - daft as a bush, but very, very ravenous); you can wave your towel in emergencies as a distress signal, and of course dry yourself off with it if it still seems to be clean enough.
More importantly, a towel has immense psychological value. For some reason, if a strag (strag: non-hitch hiker) discovers that a hitch hiker has his towel with him, he will automatically assume that he is also in possession of a toothbrush, face flannel, soap, tin of biscuits, flask, compass, map, ball of string, gnat spray, wet weather gear, space suit etc., etc. Furthermore, the strag will then happily lend the hitch hiker any of these or a dozen other items that the hitch hiker might accidentally have "lost". What the strag will think is that any man who can hitch the length and breadth of the galaxy, rough it, slum it, struggle against terrible odds, win through, and still knows where his towel is is clearly a man to be reckoned with.
Jessi and I were at a BBQ at a friend's house this evening. I saw one of the kids wearing this and knew I had to ask if I could borrow it for a 365 shot. Fortunately, my friend knows what a weirdo I am. :oD
Perhaps you remember my brief stint as a brunette...
My curiosity got the better of me, and I had to go check out the trailer toilets at the Richmond Central Target. And it may be the finest mobile commode setup I've ever seen.
In this photo, I'm signalling my approval of the spacious bathroom accommodations by taking a photo of myself in the mirror. A mirror! In a portable bathroom! Man, that really is classy.

I went to the Farmer's Market to stock up on fresh, local produce after the race. I wore the t-shirt from the race. I really do not like t-shirts much, but my race shirt was soaking wet. I love the light shining on my face on the left.

I completed my 3rd 5k today. I did not do as well as I would have liked, but I finished! The warm and humid weather, along with part of the course being hard-packed sand and brick road contributed to my longer time.

One of my favorite scenes from Monty Python and the Holy Grail is the one about the rabbit with the big sharp teeth. But the best part is after, when they bring out the The Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch and they read the verse on how to use it. I know this part by heart ...
'First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin.
Then, shalt thou count to three. No more. No less.
Three shalt be the number thou shalt count,
and the number of the counting shall be three.
Four shalt thou not count,
nor either count thou two,
excepting that thou then proceed to three.
Five is right out.
Once the number three, being the third number, be reached,
then, lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe,
who, being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it.'

I found some yogurt I like on sale at Publix last week and a way to put cantaloupe to some good use. I don't really like cantaloupe alone, but its a good fruit to put in my smoothie because it adds more nutrients, and the fresh strawberries and flavored yogurt masks it nicely.
I am trying to eat more fruits and veggies and less snacks made by nabisco. I did great today! All my snacks were fruits! I made a fruit salad, brought some yogurt and didn't eat anything with chocolate in it.
After this small food victory and my 2 mile run today, I am feeling really good!
I am trying to catch up on photo uploading and such today, so I thought I'd take a pic of me at work -- well before work started since I cleared the desktop to let the sun shine off the screen and get my reflection in there.
Jason noticed the nice light coming from the window when we were having dinner yesterday and suggested this shot.
I bought this magnet from Lauren at the Granma Party Bazaar and just had to have it in the picture. I don't really want bacon, but this was just too adorable to pass up.
