When you pick up your facetime call from your sister

Happy to be home from the hospital.

Quick sketch from a FaceTime chat

A quiet corner in Brugge, a fleeting connection across distance. The light catches her face just as the screen does, and two worlds meet in reflection. There’s something intimate about moments like this: a conversation suspended between presence and absence, between here and somewhere else. Even surrounded by history, she’s anchored in the now.

Conservatory Gardens, Central Park, Fifth Avenue, New York City.

Took this a few weeks back when the pillars in bottle alley were first decorated, not sure how well it has all lasted. Think I'll go and find out soon.

I keep in touch with my daughter and granddaughter up in Canada daily. We all have i Phones, though the one Chloe has is my daughters. It's a great way to stay connected!

Mum Mali and daughter Tatau enjoying a little quiet time together.

Lizzie the artist sketched the call as it took place. Lizzie's shown here scowling at her tablet.

I think this is a Texas Rat Snake. I know it was taken on Horsepen Bayou.

Update: On the advice of counsel, I am now leaning toward watersnake. Still sticking with Horsepen, though.

Update to update: There are a handful of people who spend even more time on the bayou than I do and one of them has just weighed in on the name of the portrait sitter: Mississippi green watersnake. Thanks Stacy, case closed! (Or was it Tyson?)

This is one of the fun things at the Swell Sculpture exhibition at the beach.

Stand immediately in front and get the fun factor visually assembled, but if you look at the small shot in the bottom right corner, you can see all the pieces that come together to make up this view.

The Crown Fountain in Chicago. The water wasn't flowing, because it was Winter, however the faces still move and change. Cool mix of technology and art.

I walk by SB daily passing by Nickelodeon Studios. These are big prints; About 15 feet square. The viewing distance from the sidewalk is about 2 feet. That is the distance this photo was taken (with my 35mm). As you can see, the Sponge Bob print is extremely high quality. At that distance, normal large format prints of that size would be very pixelated. As you can see, there is no such artifact, even when you zoom in. Whatever they used to print these, it is impressive.

Hello

I've just spotted that this is on Explore so I'd best tell you a little about it - I've been a bit busy uploading lots of pictures and haven't caught up with all of my comments and stuff yet.

Anyway this is from a dragon hunt at Rixton Clay Pits. As the name would suggest it's a former clay pits area serving a local brickworks. The clay has been exhausted and the area allowed to return to nature. The local authority stepped in and turned it into a nature reserve - and full marks to them as it is now teeming with wildlife, including a very healthy population of photographers who can regularly be seen stalking their prey on small game hunts.

Techie stuff: shot with a Panasonic GH2, 45 -200 lens with a Raynox 150 macro lens attachment bunged on the front.

Thanks for visiting and please have a butchers at my other stuff if you have the time, energy, patience and a suitable pair of sunglasses - and it's not all bugs :-)

My 200 most interesting images

Regards

Cluke
