White-faced Heron

≠=====================≠

There are some bird behaviours I wish I understood.

This bird was flying from talll tree to tall tree,

It would sit for a few minutes and then move to the next tree. I didn't spot another Heron in the area, so I've no idea was it was doing.

To add to it, a light rain began to fall, and I ended up with a stark high key result.

We found this beautiful Red-faced Warbler while exploring Carr Canyon in the Huachucas of Southeastern Arizona. No matter how many times I see these little beauties it’s always exciting!

White-faced ibis are in decline in North America due to the draining of wetlands. The largest nesting colony in the world can be found in the marshes around the Great Salt lake in Utah.

This one was photographed in the Bear River NWR, Utah.

Part of a huge bronze sculpture by Tony Cragg on display at YSP (I'm not sure what it's called though). I liked how there seemed to be faces everywhere you looked.

White-faced Heron

Egretta novaehollandiae

Ardeidae

The White-faced Heron is particularly versatile. It can be seen in many different wetland habitats: they occur on reefs, in rock pools and mudflats by the coast, in estuaries and saltmarsh, swamps, rivers, drains and at farm dams; they even occur in pasture and hypersaline wetlands. There they can be seen foraging for a wide range of prey, mostly small aquatic creatures, using various methods, including standing and waiting for their prey, slowly stalking it, frantically dashing after it, or disturbing it by stirring the water with their feet.

I'm going back to Berlin for a bit...partly because I'm reading a good novel about it and enjoying Deutschland'83 on the telly!

Strange street art but there you go...

The sweet-faced, lovable Labrador Retriever is America's most popular dog breed. Labs are friendly, outgoing, and high-spirited companions who have more than enough affection to go around for a family looking for a medium-to-large dog.

The blue-faced Malkoha is a bird of open forests and scrub jungle. Easy to distinguish as its bill is apple green, and it has a naked patch of blue skin surrounding the eye. The sexes are alike. The bird is a non-parasitic Cuckoo found in the scrub and deciduous forests of peninsular India and Sri Lanka. The Blue-faced Malkoha forages in the undergrowth, taking a variety of insects, caterpillars and small vertebrates. It is also called the Small Green-billed Malkoha. This is a new species for me, the first of this year.

Feasting on Boxthorn.

In about a week, the Cuckoo-shrike and Spiny-cheeked Honeyeater had cleared the bushes.

The only winner the boxthorn as its seeds were spread.

My latest face. The previous one I just recently posted was a mistake, wasn't quite happy with it. Now I'm finally happy with this face in the photo above. :)

Harvey Dent, AKA Two-Face, is one of the Batman's most dangerous and conflicted foes.

---

Two-Face was one of the easier characters to build for, in large part because of his simplistic suit design and large (comparatively) stature. That said however, his face was one of the most challenging aspects as it required me to build two halves of one head that spanned the width of 3 (and not 4) studs, while still being stable. Although not perfectly divided, I used a printed leg (Azog) and Ninjago stickers (among others) to help bridge the gap and even out the burns.

My Two-Face takes inspiration from Batman: The Animated Series and Batman: Arkham City. His base is one of the collection's largest and it depicts an imploded courthouse.

I won't be online/moderating over the weekend, because I'm in Switzerland the next days. I'll be looking at your wonderful uploads on monday.

Take care and enjoy your weekend!

See ya!

This white-faced monkey seems to have either scars or healing cuts on the forehead and lower lip. He's intently focused on the remains of a piece of fruit while squatting on a tree limb. There are four species of monkeys native to Costa Rica, besides the white-faced, there are also the howler, the spider and the squirrel monkeys.

It's called Pareidolia, finding faces in things. I found this on a wagon.
