Did you know the Film Photography Project provides refurbished and tested vintage film cameras free-of-charge to schools and not-for-profit organizations with film programs nationwide? When we started the program nearly a decade ago, we had no idea the demand would continue – much less grow! More and more educational and arts organizations are adding a film component to their photography courses, and the FPP is here for them. In 2024 alone, we’ve supplied over 300 working vintage cameras to High School, College and Arts Programs photography programs including Pickerington High School Central Ohio / California High School in San Ramon CA, Columbia University / BIPA grant program in NYC, ProPhound Kids Inc., RVCC Arts and Desgin in Branchburg NJ, Edgerton Jr. Sr. High School in Edgerton OH, Southeastern School District in Chillicothe OH and Woodrow Wilson High School in Los Angeles CA among others. Since FPP's inception in 2009, HQ has always been in early 20th century industrial buildings. Our former nook in Butler NJ was once American Hard Rubber - makers of Bakelite plastic for Kodak in the 1950s.

Currently we're down the street from the old Kodak Kodalux building on Rte 208 in Fair Lawn.

With few details on-line about our current digs, I've been told that the current series of buildings were used during WWI to make airplane engines.

This is Grace and Ryan, when they came in Ryan was only wanting his battery updated in his Polaroid pack camera, until they saw the other cameras. Oohs and aahhs later they told me of their search for a film camera. When they left they has matching Canons. They practically danced down the sidewalk.

Donated cameras come in my front door or by donations to the Film Photography Project. They are checked to be in good working order and then wait to find their new homes. Many times these cameras go as a group to educational facilities or special projects and sometimes individuals longing for a traditional way of imaging adopt one.

Grace and Ryan left with matching Canons.

I took the camera to the London meetup of the Film Photography Podcast Flickr group. The film is Kodacolor VR, which expired in 1986, I developed it in the Tetenal C41 kit. Considering the age of the film, the results could have been a lot worse!

The Film Photography Project now brings you D96 B/W negative developer. Long used in the motion picture industry as the standard B/W developer, but previously only available in very large quantities. We now have it available in powder to make 1 US Gallon.

D96 is a lower contrast film developer with the ability to increase the contrast by increasing your developing times or agitation. We have tested this developer with not only cinema films like X2 (Eastman Double-X), ORWO Cinema Films and FPP LOW ISO BW, but with standard B/W films like Kodak Tri-X. T-Max and Ilford FP4 an HP5 films.

FPP Blue Ultra 35mm Film

24 exp / ISO 3 / Process: C-41 / No DX-Code

FPP Blue Ultra 35mm is an extraordinary color film that produces soft blue / violet hued images with reds that POP, lending your photos a one-of-a-kind, out-of-this-world look. With an iso of 3, FPP Blue Ultra is recommended for daylight and brightly lit studio settings, and can be used in all manual 35mm cameras. FPP Blue Ultra 35mm is not recommended for plastic or point-and-shoot cameras due to the ultra-low iso.
