The Bohol Forest is a man-made mahogany forest in the Loboc-Bilar borders. This 2 kilometer stretch of planted Philippine mahogany is a world of its own. The reforestation was done during the early 50s when the forest fell victim to a local charcoal industry under a slash and burn method. Go Green!!
I mentioned it being a different world because the moment we entered this area, I was taken aback by the dimming of the sunlight. The denseness of the forest limited the sunlight on the road and it was enough to awake my sleepy babies who then started to wonder where we were. All that was missing was a mist or a fog...I would've then said "we're entering the twilight zone!" And if my brother were around, he'd be screaming, "SHUT UP!"

Petrified Forest
Painted Desert National Park
Arizona, USA
The park provides easy access both for automobiles as Interstate 40 runs through the park and to numerous overlooks which provide diverse scenes that vary from very colorful, to scenes like this that display interesting geology and vast vista, to locations with the petrified remains of trees that once thrived when this was a much wetter location. If you zoom in, there are some petrified remains on the floor of the scene.
The park is located in the high Arizona desert with elevations between 5,000 and 6,000 feet.
The summer can bring magnificent monsoon clouds, but the temperatures are often extreme (Expect every day to approach 100F and often 110F).

Take joy in the weekend if you can, my friends. This is the only day we have. And it is precious beyond words. And I'm a sappy guy.

Something a little different to my usual landscapes, a close up shot of the forest foliage taken in Ashdown Forest. It is a great place for walking and enjoying spectacular views over the Sussex countryside and is known the world over as the 'home' of Winnie-the-Pooh.
The ferns beauty captured my attention, standing tall and all around me, I had never seen fern quite like it. The odd sections were turning a golden brown as autumn approaches, reminding me to take in the beauty here and now, for everything is constantly changing.
We rush around leading such busy lives but there is so much to be appreciated all around us. Try standing still once in a while and take it all in.

A slightly different shot to one of my most popular shots on flickr. Taken at the same time as the other one (last year) in the middle of Sherwood Forest near Edwinstow.
We did the famous Overland Track - a six-day walk - in Tasmania, and one morning woke up to thick fog. The morning sun was just starting to burn it off as we walked into this forest.
