4th Day of two Weeks in the Lakes, a Day in the Langstrath Valley , a place always worth a visit, whatever the weather.

Galleny Force, one of the Waterfalls in the Langstrath Valley.

Galleny Force, near Stonethwaite in Borrowdale, contains two secluded, large but shallow pools which are great for paddling and splashing. There are small waterfalls to splash around in too, known locally as Fairy Glen. The lower pool is a short walk up from Langstrath Beck, surrounded by trees and ferns. Climb up beyond the falls to reach the other pool.

Finished! I'm still working on Soap and Roach's vests though.

Just the right amount of water for all three flows on this rock shelf, to look good, and hardly any spray, though, with such an early autumn this year, nearly all the leaves had fallen days before. I also noticed how very clear the water was...that would change, on my next visit. More shots to follow.....I couldn't visit and just take one shot ;o)

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!”.” -Hunter S. Thompson

Growing up, my prim & proper mom would often tell me “you’re so hard on things”. I’d wear out shoes, get my clothes dirty, and scrape myself up quite a bit. As I got older, I realized that I really wasn’t hard on things. I take care of my possessions & my body, but I’ve also lived life as fully as I could, and still do.

Just as my clothes, shoes, and gear show signs of use, so does my body, especially as I grow older. I have scars, an elbow that will no longer straighten fully, a fake front tooth, a fingernail that grows weird from being ripped out, and various aches & pains from old injuries. All have their stories behind them and all stem from adventures in a life I feel has been fully lived and full of passion. While I don’t love that some of my adventures resulted in injuries, I can’t say I regret doing them.

None of us can live a life of no regrets, but I’d like to have as few as possible when the end comes. I’ll continue to live life not recklessly, but fully, and follow my True North.

Hardraw Force is one of the most popular attractions in Wensleydale and at around 100 feet high it’s the highest single drop waterfall in England above ground.

Late afternoon at Trearddur Bay, Anglesey.... The weather front which had brought rain to the island on Sunday was passing over, but the winds were whipping up the high tide causing choppy conditions in the bay... Happy days (for a photographer!!)
