A bit of the Provence in the shopping district in Paris on a very appropriate location and with a wink to the 'Invasion of Forcalquier' which took place in April 2017.

Diese Kirche grenzt an den Marktplatz in Forcalquier, auf dem jeden Montag ein lebhafter provenzalischer Markt stattfindet. Wer mag, kann im Kirchenraum Stille erfahren.

Forcalquier
Forcalquier is a commune in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department in southeastern France. Forcalquier is located between the Lure and Luberon mountain ranges, about 30 km south of Sisteron and 10 km west of the Durance river. In the Middle Ages it was the capital of Haute-Provence.
Forcalquier is built around the slopes of a steep conical hill, crowned by an octagonal chapel, Notre Dame de Provence, where the medieval citadel once stood. The citadel was destroyed in 1601; the chapel with its panoramic view was built in 1875. It has a carillon that can be heard every Sunday morning during the summer.
The oldest part of the town is the area around the Place Saint-Michel with its Renaissance fountain (1511) and its narrow side-streets. There many doorways dating to the 12th to 16th centuries can be found.
The present commercial and social center of town, the Place du Bourget, is located below the Place St. Michel. The 12th century "concathedral" Notre Dame de l'Assomption with its bell towers stands across from the Place du Bourguet.
The Cordeliers Convent was built in the 13th century by Franciscans named "cordeliers" because of their rope belts. This convent was occupied by monks continuously until the Revolution. It now houses the Université Européenne des Senteurs & Saveurs. The Port de Cordeliers is all that remains of the town's fortified walls.
Population: 4,640
Area: 42.76 km2

Avenue Saint-Promasse [D4100] 14/06/2017 15h41
Forcalquier has a kind of main street where all traffic comes together. This is part of the 'route départementale' D4100. This D4100 is part of the ex-N100 'route nationale'. A lot of the good old N100 has been declassified. Only the short section connecting the A9 near Remoulins to Avignon (on the right of the East-West link planned) remains classified in the national road network ('route nationale').

[A51] Villeneuve 14/06/2017 14h16
Passed Aix-en-Provence via autoroute A8 and Jas-de-Bouffan and N296 and on the A51 (Autoroute du Val de Durance to Forcalquier. Exit 19 is the next exit and already visible. At the right the Durance river and in the distance the Alpes.
Autoroute A51
The A51 autoroute is a partly completed highway in south east France. It is the long term project to connect Marseille to Grenoble via Aix-en-Provence, the Durance valley and the Department Hautes-Alpes.
It passes the towns of Aix-en-Provence, Pertuis, Manosque, Sisteron and then Digne and Tallard. In the Department de Isère, it passes Monestier-de-Clermont, Vif and Varces-Allières-et-Risset. The motorway provides access to the south-western Alps for the residents of the south of France.
Its main section connects Marseille to Aix-en-Provence and Durance valley to the north of Sisteron (Saulce). Only 18 km is toll free between Marseilles and Aix-en-Provence, the remaining 128 km is a toll road operated by Escota between Aix-en-Provence and Saulce. At Aix-en-Provence, the autoroute becomes briefly the N296 dual-carriageway between the exits Jas-de-Boufan and Aix-les-Platanes. This section where it meets the N7 was originally proposed to be an autoroute but building has subsequently compromised the route.

Roadtrip [6] 14/06/2017
On the planning today was a relocation from La Ciotat to Aix-en-Provence (55 km / 45 minutes) and from there a roundtrip to Forcalquier (80 km / 60 minutes x 2) to find the 4 space invaders in that little town.
Changed this plan in driving straight to Forcalquier from La Ciotat and after the space invader safari back to Aix-en-Provence.
I left hôtel Saint-Jean at 9h25 and after some serious space invader photography I left La Ciotat at 12h57. Drove via A50, A52, Aix-en-Provence and A51 to Forcalquier where I took my time from 14h34 till 16h25 to find the 4 space invaders (200 points!). Via Manosque (Burger King) and Jas-de-Bouffan I reached hôtel Le Concorde at 18h10 after driving 229 km today. The highest temperature I experienced today was at Forcalquier, 38° C.
