For several decades, the Darjeeling locals have been fighting for their own autonomous state called Gorkhaland, named after the ethnic group the area mostly comprises of. Although the 'Gorkhaland revolution' was very violent initially, with several hundred deaths, the battle has been toned down considerably and is now largely peaceful. However, the locals make sure that their demands are rubbed in on every occasion. Computer printout 'Gorkhaland' banners are put up on several shop windows, there is even a 'map of Gorkhaland' on display elsewhere in town, and many shop signs declare 'Darjeeling, Gorhkaland' instead of 'Darjeeling, West Bengal'. TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS FOR INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF STRATEGIC STUDIES (IISS) ASIA SECURITY SUMMIT 2014

The 13th IISS Asia Security Summit will be held in Singapore from Friday, 30 May 2014 to Sunday, 1 June 2014 at the Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore.

Police will be conducting road blocks and security checks at Shangri-La Hotel and the surrounding vicinity during this period. Motorists are advised to avoid the surrounding roads of Shangri-La Hotel, especially Anderson Road and Orange Grove Road, and to plan their journey early as traffic is expected to be slow moving.

Motorists are advised to use Scotts Road if they are proceeding to:

Stevens Road from Tanglin Road; or

Orchard Road from Stevens Road; or

Balmoral Road.

To facilitate security arrangements for the event, entry of commercial vehicles (with vehicle registration plates starting with “G, W, X and Y”) into Anderson Road will be restricted. Commercial vehicles proceeding to Shangri-La Hotel are advised to use Ardmore Park via Draycott Drive or Draycott Park.

Vehicular traffic along Ardmore Park in the direction of Draycott Drive (between Anderson Road and Ardmore II Condominium) shall be reversed, from Thursday, 29 May 2014, 8.00 pm to Sunday, 1 June 2014, 8.00 pm. Vehicles will not be allowed to turn into Ardmore Park from Anderson Road. Motorists going to Ardmore Park are advised to use Draycott Park or Draycott Drive instead.

As parking facilities within Shangri-La Hotel will be limited, hotel visitors are advised to car pool or take public transport. Parking restrictions along the peripheral roads will be strictly enforced. Vehicles found parking indiscriminately and/or causing obstruction will be towed away.

Public understanding and cooperation is greatly appreciated.

For five consecutive years, Perspectives Leadership Academy (PLA) scholars are working with college students from Howard University during the week of March 16th. "Each year, Howard students visit during their spring break and work with a select group of students," said Antoinette Self, program manager at PLA.

Hundreds of Howard University students who skipped the beaches, parties, vacations and even trips home for spring break are embarking to seven U.S. cities and Haiti, where they will spend the week serving others. This year during the Alternative Spring Break (ASB) week of March 16, more than 400 students will be working in Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Detroit, Memphis, New Orleans, Washington, D.C., and the communities of Croix des Bouquets and Petion Ville in Haiti.

ASB Chicago participants will tackle the gun violence epidemic facing the city. Howard University students will educate high school students about conflict resolution and ways to build a better future for themselves. Students will also work with advocacy groups to lobby for stricter gun laws.

Let me introduce you my new outfit made with ingenuousness for Sophia. She desired an "Sailor" dress set.

Regarding the colors, I did a study around the tones of an old doll whose the atmosphere is a very soft sailor witch I love a lot.

So a base of ivory and blue-gray with a touch of tonic red.

This set consists of a dress, an overskirt, removable collar and stockings.

Here first I present you the dress and stockings. The dress is cut in a lined fabric and trimmed with lace and ribbon at the bottom. For the stockings and the dress's breastplate, I painted myself red stripes on an ivory fabric to give an old craft touch.

I also want to introduce you one of my new dolls customized by me during the past months.

Her name is "My Bloomy" because she's very inspired by Bloomy Bloomsbury, one of my favorite Blythe.

She is a FBL original Takara Blythe "Prima Dolly Tokyo", I bought her second hand to be customized for me.

Work done:

· Carving of her nose, lips and philtrum

· New full makeup made with artist Extra Soft Pastels "à l'écu" from Sennelier and sealed with several layers of MSC

· Tiny freckles

· Sleepy eyes

· Gaze corrected

· New lashes

· Eyelids painted with artist Extra Soft Pastels "à l'écu" from Sennelier

· Four new pairs of eye chips hand painted by me using professional Golden iridescent fluid acrylics. Blue(right), Dark red (center), Pink (left), Dark green (center)

· Full reroot using locked loop method with Katsilk 83 Glitter saran, a lovely mixture of two light brown

I've decided to start tracking my weekly farmers market hauls, a blatant ripoff of the wonderful sweet juniper.

This week was the first week where I had to organize very strategically just how I was going to carry all of this home. I love those weeks. Hopefully there will be more to come this year! I'll be around more this summer than last, and I want that to mean there will not only more cooking, but more preserving of the market hauls for over the winter in the form of jams, sauces, and pickled things. Stay tuned...

For quite a while, Winnie the Pooh used to meet guests in the Magic Kingdom with a honey pot on his head. This was sort of amusing, but somehow his face had a bit of a demonic look to it, so I can understand why he might've wanted to update his appearance over the years.

This photo is from my first visit to Disney World in February, 1979, back when characters would just stand out on the street to meet guests (long before dedicated queues were required).
