I love the way this image froze the backlit streams of water whipping off this polar bear after it finished a morning romp in the surf. A shot from my Alaska trip last year.
If you would like to see more polar bear photos from my trip to Kaktovik, check out my blog: www.firefallphotography.com/bears-kaktovik-polar-be…/
Have a warm morning!

Day 327
A different take on the same concept as yesterday :) I did shoot today but I haven't edited a selfie yet and I don't feel like doing it now :P
Special thanks, as always, to Yasmin. Though you probably can't spot her in this photo she was holding an umbrella to help get the reflections right :P

Emergence
Random patters emerge out of everything. Chaos leads to order. The universe is a construction of mathematical sets and patterns. Spirals make the world go round. Everything follows a chaotic pattern.
Red dye spreads in water in what seems to be random motion, but everything is emerging from present conditions and mathematical laws.
Do not our emotions then also tend to follow mathematical and chemical patterns? Is that all we are?

Koh Nang Yuan is a small island located near Koh Tao in the Gulf of Thailand. It is known for its striking beauty, white sandy beaches and the unique narrow strip of white sand that connects the three small islands. This sandbar only appears at low tide and creates a picturesque view. Koh means "island" in Thai, and Tao refers to "turtle". The name is derived due to the presence of sea turtles in the waters surrounding the island. Like Koh Tao, Koh Nang Yuan is known for its excellent diving and snorkeling opportunities. The underwater world around the island is rich in coral reefs and various marine animals. Visitors can enjoy activities such as kayaking, snorkeling, diving and relaxing on the idyllic beaches. On Koh Tao you can encounter different types of soft corals, including fan corals and soft leather corals. Here you often find the famous Finding Nemo clownfish and other clownfish. They are often associated with sea anemones, in which they seek shelter from predators. The area is also home to various types of hard coral, such as brain coral, table coral and staghorn coral. You can find colorful parrotfish feeding on coral and algae. Reef sharks can be seen regularly here, especially during deeper dives. You can encounter different types of moray eels, such as the giant moray eel. Sea cucumbers, sea urchins and starfish: these marine invertebrates are found on the seabed. Several species of lobsters and crabs inhabit the cracks and holes in the reef. Sea turtles are the most iconic inhabitants of the waters around Koh Tao. You may encounter several species of sea turtles, including the green sea turtle and the hawksbill turtle.
Sea turtles are often seen on diving and snorkeling trips around Koh Tao island, and sometimes they even rest on the seabed or swim along the reef. An encounter with a friendly sea turtle in the water is an unforgettable experience. We came across a very old turtle with a shell length of up to 2 meters! Sea turtles can live more than 100 years. These gentle creatures are curious by nature and can sometimes come close to you, creating wonderful interactions. Sea turtles often exude a calm and tranquil grace as they glide through the water. Their slow, fluid movements can be hypnotic and convey a sense of peace. An encounter with a friendly sea turtle leaves a deep impression and makes you aware of the importance and conservation of marine animals in their habitat. It is a reminder of the fragility and beauty of the underwater world. Koh Nang Yuan is sensitive to the impact of tourism, and efforts are being made to preserve the island. Visitors are often encouraged to take back their waste and follow sustainable practices. It is important to respect local regulations to preserve the beauty of the island for future generations.

Water is a fluid that not only fascinates for it's ability to reflect nd refract light, as the droplets in the background are doing, but one thing that always fascinates me in particular is its surface tension properties.

Something a little different... Three shots merged in to the one. A Spent match, a Drip shot and a water pour into a wineglass. I selected, cut and pasted a section of the poured water shot then shaped it a little with the 'warp' tool to give it a flame shape and erased any areas of overlap on each layer to impart some depth.
The two watershots taken with a tamron 90mm macro and the match taken with the 18-200.
Strobist:
The lighting for all three shots was identical: Two brollied strobes at 45 degrees to each other left & right of camera
Once again the Calgary resevoir serves as a marvelous place for landscape work and reflections. This one seemed fluid as the clouds effortlessly snaked their way across the sky while their mirror image moved with identical grace.
