Well I am happy today. The sun is shining any my 4 year old cherry tree is looking utterly gorgeous, with lots of honey bees enjoying their first outing in warm weather.
I am actually spending the day baking for a friend's party tomorrow but could not resist sneaking out to stand under my favourite tree.
Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend :)

These two infrared shots of All saints Church, where captured with an old nikon D90 camera which has been converted to capture only IR light, this one has a Super Colour 590nm conversion, which allows more colour in, so you can adjust colour tones in post processing, as captured or B&W, i am tweaking colour adjustments at the moment and colour channel mixing/converting and getting some nice results ....

Palo borracho is a species of deciduous tree native to the tropical and subtropical forests of South America. The fruits are lignous ovoid capsules, 20 centimetres (8 in) long, which contain bean-sized black seeds surrounded by a mass of fibrous, fluffy matter reminiscent of cotton or silk.

Flossing is good even if you don;t have any teeth! I have too many pics of Soras at different places and different times this yeat, but first time at the Arb! Between Sora Splashing, wading and foraging, I chose this one to educate kids!

HMM-- the theme for today, 8/17 is push/pull. found this theme particularly tricky since several of mine were trying to show the push or pull action, which is not easy when simultaneously trying to push the buttons on an iphone ~grin~, so i opted for no action. this may be the best macro of the four and it surprised me to discover that floss was more ribbon-y than thread-y.
"macro mondays" pushpull possibility

A coo using dental floss? A most curious behaviour of this young Highland coo on the shore near Plockton - as I watched, it reached down and picked up an old nylon rope lying on the ground and proceeded to give it a good chew. It didn't cause any damage to the rope, just seemed to enjoy the chewing. These coos wander down to the shore, apparently to graze on the seaweed although there's plenty of grass on their croft up the hill. But as it was high tide there was no exposed seaweed to eat, so perhaps it just had to make do with the rope - or perhaps it really was flossing...
The gardening girls are out enjoying the daffodils and also studying an unusual pot at Turton Tower. The holes in the side are a complete mystery.
