I couldn’t believe my luck when I pulled up and immediately saw this beautiful Five-striped Sparrow right on the side of the road next to the car! That NEVER happens. Usually I only find them after a long and difficult search.

Thank you, macro lens and photography, for opening my eyes to the wonders of the small world that surrounds us. High five, Seastar!
These are the last two (for the time being) from Holywell Bay. I must have 50 or so scenes at different shutter speeds and angles that make similar scenes so different.

Haven't much time for gardening with fifteen staying here but some things carry on growing without to much help!
Greetings to you all and best wishes for a happy weekend!
Will catch up with you all when things quieten down around here........

Taken during the walk in the forest. I very like these tiny white flowers :)
Greater Stitchwort (Stellaria holostea) is an ornamental plant native of Europe. It can grow up to 50cm in height, with leaves that are long, narrow and fresh green. The flowers are white, 20-30mm across and have five distinctive petals split to about half way down. In the wild this plant is often found in hedgebanks, open woods and wood margins. It tolerates a wide range of soils, avoiding only those which are very dry or permanently wet.

Pstryknięte podczas leśnego spaceru. Bardzo lubię te drobne białe kwiatuszki :)
Gwiazdnica wielkokwiatowa (Stellaria holostea) – gatunek rośliny z rodziny goździkowatych. Występuje dziko w Europie, północnej Afryce, Małej Azji i na Syberii. W Polsce gatunek pospolity.

Not the person to play poker with..;) My daughter couldn't believe the size of the cruise ships in Galveston. This shot is from an earlier trip. The weather didn't cooperate with our trip and it rained a lot, so we did in door tourist stuff. Her and grandson still had a great time. Neither had ever been to Galveston
This 120 foot long historic bridge is a rare surviving example of a truss bridge in Michigan. Built in 1930, the design is distinguished by its massive steel members and Parker pony truss configuration.
Looking close, you can see the new bridge in the background slightly above and beyond the old bridge. These bridges are located on Highway 65 just downstream from the Five Channels Dam west of Oscoda, Michigan.

The Citadel Steam Special tour train speeds past Ling Gill in Garsdale, powered by Ian Riley's Black Fives 44871 and 45407 on a chilly November 9th 2019. Always a delight to see the two Fives in action. (The classic view incorporating the platelayers' hut is becoming more difficult due to the growth of the lineside tree in the centre of the image,)
Þingvellir, Iceland, 2025.
This photo is a part of my series called 21st Century Trolls which shows either people in the landscape or the traces they leave behind in Iceland’s wild nature.

All five of the young swans have left the family now, and are apparentily off on their own. So the two parents glide along on the water in late afternoon as it shimmers in the sun. [DSC00696_lr_3000]
I'm finally back on line with a new PC monitor. The old one broke down during the Christmas holidays after ten years hooked up to a few successive computers below (and more recently on) my desk.
Thank you all for your clicks, comments and faves.
I watched this Rainbow Lorikeet preen its feathers and took quite a few shots. I blended five of those shots to create this photo.

Five LED's in a Christmas mood!
Believe it or not, but none of the components are powered...
A green laser beam hits the LED's from the right while a desk lamp is responsible for the white light from the top.
The parts lie on a plexiglas panel and there is a red printed circuit board (PCB) underneath.
The biggest LED's are 10 mm in diameter while the smaller one are 5 mm.
