Tail raised and webbed feet extended as air brakes, a male Laysan albatross is on final approach for landing at the nesting colony. This mลlฤซ (banded V340) has returned from months of nomadic soaring and solitary foraging at sea and will reestablish its pair bond with a monogamous mate through an elaborate courtship dance. Though a bit awkward on land, albatrosses are magnificent in the air.

He's just arriving at the lake, and heads for a spot to land on shore.

With the final days of Golden Mile Complex in sight, the once bustling basement area of shops is now a pale shadow of its former self, with only one or two holdouts holding on till the very end.
As the building dating from the 1970s set to undergo redevelopment in the very near future, places and icons such as the deck area and its surroundings will be somewhat missed.
As the complex is gazetted for conservation by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) however, it will be interesting to see how the new developers will attempt to preserve elements of the building in their new vision.
Having guided train movements for almost a century, the tired B&O CPL intermediate signals light up for a nighttime eastbound at Nebraska, IN. Around 30 hours later, they would be deactivated and removed on 8/20/2025.
A Greenfinch coming into land in our garden. We had been lacking Greenfinches after the terrible disease Trichomonosis effected them so badly over the last few years. So it's lovely to see some of these beautiful birds making a comeback. I so hope our present influx keep healthy. There is nothing worse than seeing dead and dying Greenfinches everywhere !!
At last I've been disconnected from the plumbing. However, the first of the side effects has started. I fear the worst for the weekend. Still, once they're out of the way, recovery will begin. ๐๐
