Marines with Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment (BLT 1/6), 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (24th MEU), NATO International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), utilize the Field Food Service Center (FFSC) by preparing, serving, and consuming food while away from a stationary chow hall. The FFSC is able to be set up and taken down in about two hours with around 16 Marines; this allows Marines to get hot food no matter where they are while performing missions in support of NATO. On 6 JUN, Fleet and Family Support Center (FFSC) partnered with the School Liaison Officers and Chet Harrit Elementary School to officially open a new venue for family support programs in the East County area, FFSC Santee Branch. Naval Base San Diego (NBSD) command leadership attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house, along with representatives of the military and civilian community. This venue will be used by FFSC to provide convenient and accessible services to families that may be geographically isolated from other FFSC San Diego locations. FFSC continues to partner with military and civilian agencies to enhance the resiliency-building programs available to Sailors and their families, in support of the Fleet, Fighter, and Family.

The annual Commander, Navy Region Southwest (CNRSW) Ombudsman Resource Fair, hosted by Naval Base San Diego’s (NBSD) Fleet and Family Service Center (FFSC), was beaming with representatives from various organizations eager to enlighten ombudsmen and command leaders alike of services geared at solidifying a command’s welfare foundation, Aug. 31, 2022.
