February 3rd is the day of Setsubun.The literal meaning of the word Setsubun is “division of the seasons,”Out of all the 4 Setsubun days, Risshun (the first day of spring) is the most special day.Setsubun signifies the ending of winter and the beginning of spring.
There are many beautiful giant lanterns for the year of Rooster at Taipei City and I selected the most glamorous one for you!

A lovely evening of fireworks and candles in the snow. Candles lined the Kanmangafuchi abyss. Participants were able to write on a candle and place it somewhere along the trail, or in the field just before the entrance.
We got up early to go to the balloon festival in Canberra. It was worth it and very interesting. Even though it did not seem windy, it was windy enough to make them stay tethered.

The annual Vegetarian Festival is on again; here an image from a previous occasion. A shrine from one of the Chinese temples on the island is processed through town and purified in a hailstorm of firecrackers.
Every year in the 9th lunar month the descendants of Chinese immigrants throughout SE Asia celebrate the festival in honour of the 9 emperor gods. Over a period of 10-20 days the participants purify body and mind through a strict diet and abstinence from impure or intoxicating acts and sex, as well as feats of endurance and suffering.

This is a picture of Durga puja festival, famous in Bengal and all over eastern India. I took this picture on the last day of the festival. That day was called Dashami. Many bengali people participated in this day with many cultural programs. Dhunuchi dance is one of them. I captured this in the street of Kolkata. The lovely light and ambiance makes this picture attractive.
