Burning Man's green focus raises concerns of corporate contracts (inclusive of Festival Photos)
Several miles from ‘Black Rock’ City, the temporary town created annually in the ‘Nevada’ desert, celebrants approaching 2007 Burning Man counterculture festival can see the wooden effigy glow bright green in the night. What they can't see from the distance is a sheet of panels 50 yards from the Man powering the ghostly glow. ‘Renewable Ventures,’ a San Francisco alternative energy company, donated the solar generator, and the firm's presence on the desert floor - along with other companies given exclusive contracts to show off their clean-tech wares - is stirring controversy.

According to Hindu mythology Goddess Kali with a fierce face and terrifying look is the first of the ten incarnations of Goddess Durga. Kali is worshiped as the Mother Goddess who is known to destroy all evil. As legend goes, once the demons named Shambhu and Nishambhu grew in force and pose a challenge to Indra, King of Gods, and his Kingdom of Heaven. Gods sought protection from Mahamaya Durga, the Goddess of Shakti or Power. At this stage Goddess Kali was born from Durga's forehead as Kal Bhoi Nashini to save heaven and earth from the growing cruelty of the demons.
Kali Pooja is celebrated on the Amavasya or the no moon night in the Hindu month of Kartik (October/November). This date of Kali Pooja coincides with Diwali, the Festivals of Lights. Kali Puja is one of the major festivals for people in West Bengal, particularly in my native village Sonamukhi, and they celebrate the occasion with much gusto and enthusiasm. Kali pujja is celebrated in Sonamukhi for 5 days and thousands of people hop temple to temple just to have a glimpse of huge idols, as big as 20ft in height.

Sanja Festival, is one of the three great Shinto festivals in Tokyo, along with the Kanda Matsuri and Sannō Matsuri. It is considered one of the wildest and largest.[1] The festival is held in honor of Hinokuma Hamanari, Hinokuma Takenari and Hajino Nakatomo, the three men who established and founded Sensō-ji. Sanja Matsuri is held on the third weekend of every May at Asakusa Shrine. Its prominent parades revolve around three mikoshi (three portable shrines referenced in the festival's name), as well as traditional music and dancing. Over the course of three days, the festival attracts 1.5 to 2 million locals and tourists every year. -Wikipedia
