Santa Fe F45 #5982 heads Eastbound near Sullivans Curve on the North Main of a snowy Cajon Pass in March of 1987.
A Southern Pacific train drops downgrade up above at Canyon Siding on the Palmdale Cutoff.
Santa Fe C30-7 #8083 leads a pair of Burlington Northern engines (B30-7AB #4046 and SD40-2 #8000) along with a trio of CF-7's (2598, 2641, 2563) on a short Eastbound train at Summit of Cajon Pass in November of 1986.
The Santa Fe was donated to the City of Kingman in 1953, at the end of its useful life. It covered over two million miles between Los Angeles and Kansas City.
With Trinidad in the rearview, Amtrak's westbound Southwest Chief #3 notches up as it digs in at the beginning of Raton Pass. Despite it being nearly 30 years since the Santa Fe name stood alone, one can still find themselves observing stainless passenger equipment snaking through Colorado and New Mexico under the Chief branding.
Another day to night conversion.
This old trading post has been around in some from or another since 1603. Let that melt on your tongue for a while.
I shot this in broad daylight on an overcast day but ultimately found it lacking, so I converted it to a dusk shot to embue it with some atmosphere.
Santa Fe Caboose on the siding, a bit far from home since it is sitting in the Smokey Mountains, interesting find in North Carolina.

To quote a few of my railfan colleagues, "this wasn't on my 2024 bingo card". What an anomaly it is to see a four axel fallen flag painted locomotive lead an office car special. Pretty damn cool!

The WC brought stuff to the Upper Peninsula that I'd never seen if the Soo had stayed. This SD45-SD35-SD45 combo at Trout Lake eastbound in October 1994 was typical of some of the crazy consists that ran by my house on a daily basis. Almost like having your own model train layout where you could mix and match things at whim. Train 35 arrives to make its set out with 5377, 2500 and 5400 along with 86 cars. A rescan of one of my earliest Flickr efforts.
