La olvidada Red sur al sur de laja , tomando algo de vida con el inusual paso de el tren de pasajeros en una zona que solo acostumbra al paso de trenes de carga desde que se suprimieran los servicios regulares de pasajeros a fines de la pasada decada , solo rastros quedan de lo que fue el tendido electrico en la zona y al igual que antes de la electrificación un tren con diésel y quizás con las mismas maquinas que en esa época corrieron se hacen presentes.

Anyone who has ever used Kodachrome at night knows this was an extremely long exposure. Fortunately the FE is easily up to the task. I didn't have a tripod, so this was shot with the camera on the roof of my car - not running, of course.
This was taken one night while chasing severe storms for the NWS. Night spotting is something I have never gotten completely used to.

I was in Stockton, CA on June 25, 1994 bagging a few nice photos when I caught a meet between AT&SF B40-8W 554 with a mixed freight and Amtrak B32-8WH 510 with Train 704, a San Jouquin. And I said to myself, "Self, this is the chance to catch a Santa Fe on that trestle just south of Downtown Martinez, but you got to move your butt."

After the mini sized Olympus OM-1, the world of SLRs would never be the same again. Nikon, in particular, never gave a second of importance to compactness. However, by 1978, the Nikon range (with the Nikkormats also) appeared somehow Jurassic in terms of size, hence the FM first, then its automated sister, the FE. The cameras are almost identical, save for some minor points. I once held a FE2 and found the finder to be yellowish and not very bright. For some reason, this FE has a reasonable viewfinder, not dark at all and comfortable enough.
The fit and finish are superb, even on this relatively battered unit. What strikes the most is the mechanical quality. The wind on lever is smooth and silent, a real joy to wind up the film here! The shutter does not clonk, it is very well dampened, much better than my Nikon D300. For the rest, it is a very straight forward aperture priority camera, the only unusual thing is the speed range of the shutter, one can choose manually exposures up to 8 s, the camera being able to expose for several minutes in auto mode.
Here we have a compact SLR (lets not mention the Pentax ME, in order not to demerit Nikon!), slim, yes less than 500 g and virtually indestructible. It may not be a work of art in terms of design, but it surely is in terms of build and quality. Although I don't collect Nikons, this is my 10 th body, I rarely walk away from a sorry looking Nikon, yeah, I know, in the end, I am a sucker for Nikons!

Shot with the awesomely sharp, sharp Carl Zeiss Sony Sonnar Carl Zeiss Sony Sony FE 55 mm F/1.8 ZA Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* Lens and finished in Lightroom 5.3 ! Was using the B W 49mm Kaesemann Circular Polarizer MRC Filter on bright, sunny day. Check out the low glare off the rocks and water and the bright blue sky! Super sharp images and crystal-clear pictures!
